FREMANTLE appears to be losing the race to lure out-of-contract St Kilda star Brendon Goddard away from his home town of Melbourne.

Goddard, 27, is understood to have ruled out a move interstate after months of raging speculation that the tough all-rounder could switch to Fremantle.

His decision not to head west fuels prospects the veteran play-maker will move to Essendon on a lucrative new four or five year contract.

Goddard is believed to have been considering a new Saints offer of only three more seasons after 10 consecutive years and 205 senior games.

Essendon is still in the race for Saints star but I reckon the Bombers are only nominal players on the Goddard-front. It's been tipped for months that Goddard will reunite with his old coach Ross Lyon at Freo and you'd expect that piece of business to be done sooner rather than later. Based on his speech at St Kilda's best-and-fairest night, you'd be betting Goddard is definitely headed somewhere.

Wouldn't trust either of them.

No way of knowing until FA period opens and he takes his offer to St Kilda. At the moments it's just Freo/Dons fans hoping for the best and grabbing at straws. Goddard was spotted with Dodoro though. :P
