OK, I'm doing my write ups now. About time I got around to this.

Sir Garfield Sobers

Statistics

ClassMatchesBa AveBo AveRunsWickets
First Class   383  54.87  27.7428,314  1,003
International    93  57.78  34.03 8,032   235

Gary Sobers is widely regarded as one of the best cricketers ever to grace the game. His efforts throughout his 476 test careers give him a very strong case toward having the title 'Best Cricketer' outright.

Known for feats such as his long standing record of 365* in an international innings, being the first batsman to manage 36 runs in a single over, being 1 of only 2 men (the other being Bradman) to win the Wisden Cricketer of the Year award 3 times (eight), and at the turn of the century was named the Cricketer of the Century by Wisden.

Among his seemingly endless admirers are the men he troubled so much at the crease and with the ball during his playing career, and since retiring has been universally recognised as one of the greatest of the game.

The first pick is as much a burden as it is a gift, but I feel like I've made the right choice picking Sobers here.

William Gilbert Grace

WG Grace, not unlike Garfield Sobers, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever to play the game. Sobers, Grace and Bradman are my top 3 so naturally I'm stoked to have picked up two of them.

Before Grace, cricket was a game with 2 different kind of batsmen. Back foot batsmen and front foot batsmen. WG was he first man to combine both sides of the game into one player and created unquestionable havoc for bowlers of his time who had never faced such a versatile and skilled batsmen. This shows with his 126 first class centuries (:o) and 7 50s in just 22 tests. Keeping in thought that at the time cricket was very much a bowlers games, with horrible pitches that made for horrendous batting conditions, WG was the man that ave hope back to the bloke with the bat.

Along with being perhaps both the best batsman and the best bowler of his time, WG was noted for being an incredible fielder, many believe to be the best of his time. He was fast, had a brilliant arm and extremely safe hands.

WG Grace will remain one of the most prominent figures in cricketing history forever, his innovative batting techniques changed the game forever and are still used to this day.

BB67th

Tossing up between a couple of great batsman and leaders, but I will have one of the greatest openers of all time with Sunil Gavaskar.

Chelskiman

Need a spinner I think, and with the two best already picked, I may as well pick the third greatest.  Anil Kumble.

The word greatest is being chucked around way too much in this draft.
