I know its early days, 2012 isn't even done yet and we haven't even started trading or a pre season!
I like crystal balling though, "the future" is all Richmond supporters ever have to hope for unfortunately.

Where do you honestly see us finishing in 2013?
Take your Richmond hat off and have a fair look at it from an outside perspective.

This is what I think our team will look like in Rd 1 2013

B:   Morris - Rance - Newman

HB: Houli - Grimes - Chaplin

C:   Grigg - Cotchin(c) - Deledio(vc)

HF: Martin - Vickery - Knights

F:   King - Riewoldt - Edwards

R:  Maric - Tuck - Foley

Int: Nahas - Jackson - Griffiths - Ellis (sub)

Thats a pretty good looking side on paper IMO but can they have the mental toughness to go to the next level?
Lost so many games this year by a couple of kicks or less, its not ability, but desire that it takes to turn those into wins.

So where do they finish next year?

5-8 I'm going to be optimistic for a change, and same with me bottom 6 I will change clubs.

quinny88

I know its awfully optimistic of me and as a long suffering Richmond supporter I should know better than to be optomistic, but I honestly think we could be top 4 next season. It really isn't that unrealistic. We lost that many games by less than a few kicks. If we just turn half of those around we would be top 4.

Every season a team from outside the top 8 jumps into the top 4 the following year..
2013 Richmonds turn?

Ziplock

well, you have to look at the top 8 and 4, and who'll fall out.

Hawks and Pies should stay up there in the 4, adelaide and swans should both fall out of the 4, but both should stay in the 8, geelong will fall out of the 8.

that means that there's a free spot in the 8, which you'll be fighting out with carlton, essendon and probably brisbane. there's also 2 free spots in the 4, but you need to leap frog north, freo, wce to get it.

it's doable...

realistically though, around 6th.

Yeah agree with those points. Like Hardwick said though in his speech at the B&F "were not gonna wait for other clubs to drop out of the top 8, were gonna bloody well kick em out" and thats what has to be done. They need to grow a pair and be a bit more ruthless

Great midfield, improving backline, Gun forward

Questions
Where will Dusty play his best footy?
Will big Vickery get better and continue on from 2011?
Where do Ellis and Conca fit in, are they part of the mid rotation?

Dusty high half fwd/mid. Expecting a big year from him in 2013.
Vickery played injured all year this year, eventually gave in and went in for surgery. Apparently starting his pre season shortly so I expect a big year from him also.
I left conca out but maybe a bit stiff, I would have him in over Jackson. Him and Ellis are young and will naturally progress across half back with stints in the midfield

Jroo

I think it will finally be the year Richmond will make the finals.
Another year of experience for our younger players and with Chapln and Knights added to our list we look like a lot better side.
Hopefully we can get a Adelaide draw next year as well  ;)

Kellogscrunchynut

I haven't seen them in finals since I was 7, and my patience is wearing thin.

In terms of the best 22, Conca definately makes it in. He's best role is an inside mid but with the quality of our mids he will have to wait until his body has developed, and he has more experience, before he is in the midfield for the majority of games. Because he has good skills and has played in the backline for a fair chunk of his short career i think people can be influenced into thinking he is best suited as an outside player or rebounding defender to use his left foot skills, but honestly his best work is in close. He has played large portions in the backline because as an inside midfielder especially, it is vitally important to have defensive knowledge and skills, so Hardwick has sent him there to learn. He will be a quality player. Also Batchelor could sneak in over Griffiths but that is line ball considering both have missed a bit of footy and still have a lot more to prove.

Yeah I agree Conca should be in the best 22, I totally forgot him to be honest.
Im not a fan of Batchelor. See him out on the piss regularly in my area drinking and smoking! And im talking about during the season. Needs a foot up the ass

Unfortunatly its true. He is a Frankston boy and I have seen him out atleast 3 or 4 times during the season in Frankston and Mornington.
I must admit the times I did see him wasted was when he was injured, but it was still the night before a game and I dont think theres any time that its ok to be out wasted and smoking! Alot of potential in Batch but a bad attitude obviously
