Is Karnezis still leaving?
There are rumours about both Karnezis and Banfield maybe being traded but heard nothing official.

Article from Lions confirming the interest.  Not sure whether this one is a wise move but if it comes off maybe Hudson has played his last senior game subject to injuries of course.

Stefan Martin joins the Lions in exchange picks 53 and 73.  Interesting move will he slot straight into our best 22 as a forward or will he have to fight for that position with Cornelius and Lisle.  Will he be the back up for berger or will Hudson still be used in that role.

Also great to see that we have retained our 3 picks in the first 2 rounds Picks No.8, No.24 and No.33.

Mailman the 2nd

I think Martin was a good grab

At least its definitely good to see Voss is taking a good approach

Stefan is very underrated imo.

Cicjose

you guys have so many ruckmen why would you get Martin?

Ringo

but only one forward CIC which is why we chased Tippett and Dawes. Club made it clear that they would chase a mature aged big bodied mid and forward. Probably not the result we wanted first up but all the same achieved both with Moloney and Martin

I feel sorry for Lisle and Conelius. They probably won't get much game time now.

Ringo

Agree mate - But hopefully Stefan has to fight with both Cornelius and Lisle for the position. Lisle and Cornelius still have a bit of developing to go so maaybe Stefan is the short term solution to partner Brownie.

actually pleased with our trading as we got what we wanted maybe not first choice but a ball winning mid in Moloney and a mature aged tall forward to support Brownie and although we did not get Tippet Martin is a viable option. Think he may surprise if given the chance forward.

I didn't realise Martin was about to turn 26! I always thought he was early 20's.
No time for mucking around then, he will need to have a big pre season and rip into it.

Tippet may still be on the Lions Radar.

"The Lions also seem to have resurfaced in talks surrounding former Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett, who was unable to find a new home during the Trade Period.

Despite nominating Sydney as his preferred destination, Tippett’s fate now looks set to be decided via the draft process.

But Voss said Tippett’s surprise availability isn’t a priority for the Lions, who are less than a week away from commencing pre-season training.

"We'll monitor the situation with Kurt like everyone else, but we are into our pre-season preparation and getting on with things. "
