Rather than cluttering up a few threads thought I would start this thread where we could talk trade options for the Lions.  Please feel free to discuss any players we should chase and any players we should trade as bait.

Obviously the big one is Tippett but what do we do if we do not get him.  If we do not get him I think maybe see if we can get Gumby but failing that think we should give either Cornelius or Lisle a fair run at it.

Do not think we need to chase Maloney or McGuane as we are pretty well served for defenders and midfielders when you look at who we have blooded this year and the likes of Bartlett, Wearden, Sheldon and Retzlaf playing well in reserves and not getting games this year,

May get some flak here but reckon we could possibly use Banfield as trade bait.  He seems to have stagnated and Green is really grasping that small forward role.

So in summary our one real need in trade week is a top class forward to support Brownie.

I think a top forward is definitely top of the list, but we should still continue to get some development into players like Lisle and Cornelius. How long do we really think Brownie has left at the top level? 2 years, 3 at most? I also think that Bandfield has had a crap season, but he was really good before. What do you think we could get if we decided to trade him? Would anyone really be interested in him?

We have Green and Zorko as future quality small forwards. Banfield + draft picks might be able to be used to get Tippet. Can't think of too many others on our list worth trading. Pat Karnezis didn't come along like I thought he would this year.

Realistically if we don't get Tippet we can hold off 1-2 years on getting the Brown replacement.

I think we should be trading for draft picks, because we have such a tight knit group of youngish players.

As for teams who would be keen for Banfield think of teams that are need to a small forward capable of decent forward pres.
Any teams come to mind?

Article that states we may look past Tippet but also says we must look to in grown talent as well.

"I think our midfield still has to develop and whether we look internally or externally for that [is the question].

"Our on-ball brigade in the reserves finals has been [Patrick] Karnezis, [Jared] Polec, [Jack] Crisp, [Billy] Longer and the average age is 19.5. That's exciting.

"We've got to look to promote within, but if we feel like there's a position to look at short-term wise, then we'll look at it.

"If we don't feel like we have someone that can fill a spot immediately, that's the ones we'll look at a bit more heavily."

So we may be chasing a mid fielder.

Noz

I heard a small rumour mid season that Adelaide wanted to trade Tippett to the Lions in return of Redden though this was only a rumour with no merit to it.

You guys would really benefit from gaining another key forward though Tippett would cost an arm and a leg and Gumby is injury prone and still cost a fair bit to get what about a guy like Ben Mckinley has struggled to get games at North after coming across from West Coast stands at 185cm and can kick a bag. Shouldnt cost a lot maybe a third round pick. Aaron Edwards also wants out of North.

BB67th

Edwards could be a good pick but there is no chance that we will be giving up Reddan anytime this century.

Would you guys chase Gumbleton? Injruy prone but has so much talent

If we don't land Tippett then I think we definitely will.

Yea heard the same rumour Noz but was very quickly quashed.  Rumour has it that the offer is in the vicinity of $700k per season.  Not sure whether we will get him though as GC have maybe a little more leverage with draft picks.

No surprise that we may chase Moloney if the Tippett trade does not eventuate.  The surprise is the interest in Clint Young,  Personally I would prefer Young to Moloney, I think reading Voss's statements earlier that we want a mid as our mid field continues their development.  Black maybe sub material this year so we would need one of these.

Great to see Bartlett and Cornelius close to re-signing as well.

Banfield might want out. I think he realises Green has passed him so he wants to move.

Collingwood may like the look of Banfield.

Ringo

Now that Tippett has chosen Sydney who do we chase Moloney or Young.  Personally I prefer Young but either would do for a couple of years,
