I've only been doing rookies in the sense of guys that were drafted this year, with the exception of O'Meara and Crouch. Anyway, I'm just doing the profile on him now. Will be up in about 20 minutes. ;)

Lewis Pierce

Birthday - 16/11/94
202cm/88kg
Dandenong Stingrays
Price/Position - $102,700 Ruck

Drafted - Round 4 Pick 75 St Kilda

Pierce has suffered a number of football related injuries throughout his teenage years but when he made it onto the field he did enough to impress the Saints recruiters. The project ruckman rarely gets more than a handful of possessions per game but apparently his tap work is excellent and he's got a good temperament. In the Under 18 Championships he played four games with Vic Country scoring 47, 29, 23 and 26 (Ave: 31.2). During the TAC season his scores were only slightly better -  20, 40, 65, 43, 40 (Ave: 41.6).

It would be foolish to think Lewis will see any action for at least 2 or 3 years but if the Saints suffer a calamitous injury run it might force their hand.

Kevin Sheehan says: An exciting young Ruckman with good endurance and the ability to take a nice overhead mark. Has genuine football smarts and very good game sense and awareness. His tap work is very good as is his ability to cover the ground and provide a tall mobile target. Has shown he can also go forward on occasions and be effective. His leadership and football character are excellent. Played in 4 of 5 games for Vic Country at this year’s NAB AFL U18 Championships.

Tony Elshaug says: We think he’s 203cm and he’s still growing we think. He was a teammate of Nathan’s at Dandenong Stingrays and he has had a tough year. He played through adversity with injury. He had knee tendonitis at the start, came into the championships and held his own against the best ruckmen in Australia. He broke his thumb just after the championships but fought his way back to play through adversity again and did a good job. He showed he could mark the footy and can ruck and play forward. He’s a good person too with a strong character and we’re pleased to have a young ruckman on the list to complement Ben (McEvoy), Tom (Hickey) and Rhys (Stanley). It gives us a good profile and we’re pleased to have him.

GEELONG draftee Jackson Thurlow has emerged as a dark horse to make his debut in the Cats' round one blockbuster against Hawthorn.

Despite being "nervous as" heading into the session, the 18-year-old Tasmanian was among the standout performers in last Friday's match simulation against North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium.

Playing across half-back, he impressed Geelong's coaching staff by displaying good skills and sound decision-making.

New Look Demons Well Set For Round 1

"MORE THAN any time recently, Melbourne supporters will need a copy of the AFL Record when they rock up to the season opener against Port Adelaide at the MCG on March 31.

The Demons could unveil up to six new players that afternoon as both recycled players and boom draftees make a serious bid for senior selection.

Experienced trio Shannon Byrnes, Tom Gillies and David Rodan have barely missed a minute of the pre-season, while prized former Collingwood forward Chris Dawes has overcome knee and calf injuries and is now a full participant at training.

Draftees Jack Viney and Jimmy Toumpas are also rated as big chances to make their AFL debuts in the Sunday afternoon clash against the Power.

"Watson said midfielder Jake Melksham was ready to have a bigger impact in 2013, and highlighted 22-year-old recruit Nick Kommer as a standout on the track.

Kommer seems likely to play in the NAB Cup, and although the senior players generally sat out the opening round of the pre-season format, Watson is set to play against Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on February 15."

"But the most-hyped young Dee has to be Jack Viney. He finished eighth in the time-trial, boasts a ripped frame already made to handle the rigours of senior footy and has wowed onlookers at training.

Expect Viney, one of the favourites for the AFL Rising Star Award, to make an instant impact, while fitness freak James Magner is also ticking along nicely."

IT’S been the summer of youth at Alberton, with Port Adelaide insiders blown away by the form of their first-year crop.

"No.7 draft pick Ollie Wines has led the charge, with his gut-busting running, mature-body and determined mindset holding him in good stead and primed to make an early impact.

Second-round pick Tom Clurey isn’t far behind. The key-position prospect came to the Power with an outstanding endurance background and has built on that this summer.

Pre-season draft pick Sam Colquhoun has also impressed. The under-18 All-Australian from last year has already been exposed to senior SANFL footy and could also push through earlier than anticipated.

Mature-age rookie Kane Mitchell has made an early impression and handled the upgraded training loads with aplomb. Port thinks he’s ready to rock, while Matthew Lobbe has been a surprise bolter."

"Top draft picks Jackson Macrae and Jake Stringer will be thrown into the deep end in the NAB Cup...Nathan Hrovat is the other draftee who could make an impact early. His attitude and output have impressed immensely, and did from the day he was drafted."

Nice one Mr. Craig! Not good news on grimes though.

Jack Grimes

Various: Grimes suffered a range of pre-Christmas niggles and is on a modified program, easing slowly back into full training.

Mr.Craig

Yeah I know. :-\

Hardly surprising coming from Jack "Band-aid" Grimes. His spot in my team is tenuous at best.
