Thoughts

Every year there is a player like Luke Ball. He is a proven performer with 4 90+ averages in his career, and this year was the first year he ever averaged under 80. He was never the most mobile player anyway, so I think he could make a return not unlike that of Lenny Hayes. It's difficult not to consider him at 230k, he won't be that much more expensive than high end draft picks and (in my opinion) is almost certain to outscore them by a fair margin.

Verdict

I'll keep a very close eye on his pre-season, but unless he shows particularly bad signs it will be difficult to exclude him from my midfield.

Prediction

I think he'll break the 80 mark again this year. Top notch player who will be keen to get back onto the field.

kilbluff1985

yep pretty sure he will be my 4th or 5th mid if he stays around 250k but if his real price is around 300k then maybe not better off with a rookie at 300k

enzedder

I don't think I'll have him...looking at a 4 premium midfield to line up R1 and won't have the $ to fit in Ball...will be going with 4 cheaper rookies I reckon.

hannebery2rohan

Neither here nor there. Won't average enough to be a keeper or a decent cash cow. But at least you know he'll have excellent job security.

Torress

if i had hindsight i would of started lenny this season.

if he is 230k and has a solid pre season i'm fairly sure i'll pick him personally - next year is back to mid priced picks. won't be the rookie availability like we've had with expansion teams.

i think 230k is less than a 50 ppg average - he'd be a monty to improve by 30 ppg. if this is true i'm termpted to say lock

roo boys!

Yeah proven performer and at that price it's hard to ignore him. Should get a spot in my midfield from the start.

Torpedo10

Definitely gotta be considered. If he plays and makes cash could upgrade to a Premo(or downgrade if the premo has a bad first few rounds). Ball is a good scorer and if he works out he'll be very good.

Adamant

Will keep an eye on his pre-seaosn, but he's in atm.

He will play, He also won't be first to be tagged. I am seriously considering him.

Hagebear

There's no way he'll get tagged at all. Not with Swan, Pendles, Beams and Daisy. He's not much of a forward so should spend all his time in the mids. If he's playing round 1 he's a must have.

+1

What does balls return mean for beams?
Beams went up another gear this year and although Ball is very important to their midfield, surely Beams cant be squeezed out to that half fwd/mid role again.
Will be interesting to see what happens there

Jroo

Will watch his NAB Cup. If he is going to be around $230k then you would rather spend an extra $30k and pick him instead of Whitfield. Ball will bounce back and average 90+ and has great JS.

Basically this. At a price like he will be, I don't think I'll be saying no.
