Thoughts

Rory is one of my favourite players in the AFL and was one of my smokey starters this year. He was able to average over 105 despite playing negating roles in a few matches this year, and hopefully he'll be released more in 2013 and can take that next step to genuine mid premium. His efficiency is extremely high, operating at 71.7% disposal efficiency, which is even higher than Scott Pendlebury.

Verdict

If you're looking for a risk that won't have a massive fallout if it doesn't come off, Rory Sloane could be for you. While it's always good to be wary of players coming off big increases in average, I think this fella has the skill to push on.

Prediction

I'm thinking he will break the 110 barrier in 2013, however 115 isn't out of reach either.

kilbluff1985

not for me if you don't start with star premiums your asking for trouble in your mids

colmullet

yeah and adelaide's generous draw this year may inflate a few of their players prices running into next year

His average against Port, GWS, GC and Brisbane was only 103. So I don't think the soft games really padded his average. :)

I understand where you're both coming from though...I just like to pick a player (in the midfield) who will take the 'next step' ... Last year it was Mundy which worked well and saved me a trade...This year Sloane.

yeah i guess so, from memory they didnt have alot of tough road trips this year either which will most likely change next year, i dunno i just think he's a bit awkwardly priced to jump on early next year, he neither represents a true mid premo nore cheap enough to be considered a real value pick either....thats just my angle anyways haha love the guy as a player though

Haha yeah you're probably right, can't help but show my love for the fella though ;D

Heppell21

Definitely putting Sloane into consideration at that price

Torpedo10

Considering. If he breaks out can either stick with him or upgrade to a Premo.

half way through the year he was at 114 a game, I think he got fairly tired towards the end and he saw the "general" in Rd 22, has been down on what he did in the first half but with experience and a pre-season I expect him to jump over 110

He probably did but who says that won't happen again? still very young.

Started the year with Sloane this year and he was Great! No reason why he can't keep it up next year and Thompson and Dangerfield will always get the attention. But might just have to try and stick with true premiums like Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Cotchin ect.

Adamant

Really faded towards the end of the year...pass for me.

actually Sloaneburger was tagged a few times which led to lower scores, three top clearance players, can't stop em all, an next year in comes clearance king Brad Crouch :o

Yer he does get tagged some games but normally teams worry about Danger and Thompson first
