Disgruntled Melbourne playmaker Brent Moloney could be headed to Essendon.

INSIDE FOOTBALL understands the Bombers have offered Moloney a two-year deal in the hope of securing the hard-running ball-winner in a move that would add depth and grunt to a one-paced group.

Seriously doubt we'd get Moloney, but you never know.

Fremantle has pulled out of the race for Goddard - Apparently he doesn't want to cross the border.

Which leaves St Kilda, Essendon and Geelong. Geelong only just emerged as a contender as well.

Looks like we're in a decent position! :)

really???  :'( :'(

I have sources close to Goddard, and at the start of last month they told me he would be at Essendon.
Nobody will believe me, but they are close friends with the GOD.

Think we will end up with him :)
And Moloney would be great too!

Ziplock

yeah... you guys just casually have like 1.5 mil left over in your cap....

lol.

Well we would have easily.
Hurley, Watson, Stanton and Ryder are our only players who are on largish contracts.

Ziplock

isnt it compulsory for every club to use  like 92.5% of it's salary cap?

and you dont have any big retirements do you?

Yeah but I think it would have been used enough? McVeigh but thats it..
Monfries hasn't signed, so thats a bit of space.

and Gumby leaving could free up a little bit more

Ziplock

I dont think gumby will free up too much...

fact is, most of this bs is just media speculation lol.

The same way Bock, Ward, Scully, GAJ, Davis, Brown etc. were BS media speculation. Usually once it reaches the mainstream media there are some credible sources.

I like to hope that he's coming, and I know we have the money.

Ziplock

what about pendles etc?

I can see you guys getting moloney.

and maybe getting goddard.

cant see you getting both, soz.

Ziplock

the salary cap minimum is only 600k less than the maximum- you'd think goddard alone would be looking for about 700k/year...

Of course. No way we get both, we'll get 1 of Caddy, Goddard and Moloney. Caddy looking less likely every day so time to pin our hopes on somebody else. :P

Last I heard we offered 800k over 4 years, likely front loaded to stop StK matching it as well. Not sure how credible that is.

kilbluff1985

read somewhere we have to make like 4 delistings

imo Spike and Hille very likely to retire

Slattery and others Delisted

Monfries probably gone

Fletcher i think he was going to play next year but hinjury late in season is having me second guessing it and he had few injuries/niggles all year so i'm not real confident he will play next year but hope so

even if some of the above happens will free up some cash on top of what we had spare already i think we can afford both and i don't think Moloney will be asking for that much
