How much will injury proneness weigh on your round 1 picks?

Hey guys,

I've been having a think lately about how important injury proneness is when you're picking your starting lineup.

This year we saw Jobe well and truly break out without his body breaking down.  However at the same time players like Fyfe, Mummy etc. succumbed to their less reliable bodies.

I'm thinking this is particularly relevant for next year with the number of bargains we're going to see: The Frenchman, Winderlich, Gray, Ball and Bock all feature in my draft team.

The question is. how many injury prone players are prepared to take the risk on and where do you draw the line on risk vs. reward?

A few hits and misses last year:

Hits:
-Waters
-Jobe
-Beams
-Grimes
-Adcock

Misses:
-Fyfe
-Mumford
-Sandi
-Robbo

-Higgins

well i decided not to go jobe due to injury last year and also chose goodes up front as he doesnt get injured and that didnt go to plan so next year its not a consideration that weighs highly

I was tossing up between Gibbs and Jobe at the start of 2012. I chose Gibbs because I thought he would get midfield time and break out truly, but what actually made my decision was the fact that Gibbs has hardly missed a game his whole career. I was worried about Jobe's hammies.

Look how that decision turned out.  >:(

Interesting fact: Higgins has played more games than Franklin in the past 3 years.

starting picks idealy want to give you 22 games, although its obviously a balancing act as you can't just pick the athletes, you need some ''footballers''.

i started jobe as i'm a bomber man but his pre season was dedicated to preventing hammy tweaks. too bad it didn't rub off on the rest of the squad!!!

durability is my key specification unless there is just too much value. you need luck too, no one is invincible. although deledio has barely missed a game!

interesting next year if lids is a mid only - Cotch vs Lids    - cotch wins for scoring abilty especially if he has a big pre season. where i feel lids won't miss a game and is less risky. i'd still pick cotch tho he looks awsome!

For all the people who didn't get Jobey this year, learn your lesson......Never underestimate the power of Jobey!
