Sure he could smash it but what you said before was nonsensical!? You can't compare Atley to a rookie!?

I was saying it because I would rather start a 4 gun + Embley MID + 3 G's + Harbrow + Atley

over

a 5 gun + embley MID + 3 g's + 3 DEF rooks

Wouldn't it be?
4 Guns + Mid Rookie + Embley MID + 3 G's + Harbrow + Atley
over
a 5 gun + embley MID + 3 g's + 2 DEF rooks

In that case:
4x115 (MID GUNS) + 75 (MID ROOK) + 90 (EMB) + 3x100 (3Gs) + 80 (HAR) + 75 (ATL) = 1080
vs
5x115 (MID GUNS) + 90 (EMB) + 3x100 (3Gs) + 2x65 (DEF ROOKs) = 1095

Depending on who your mid guns are, but that 5th one could push that 1095 a bit higher.
Some could also argue Atley could go higher but a 115+ Mid is a lot safer

Swan (260) + Ablett (125), + Pendles (116) + Redden (112) + Embley (90) + 3 G's (300) + Harbrow (83) + Atley (77) + MID Rook (75) = 1228

vs

Swan (260) + Ablett (125), + Pendles (116) + Redden (112) + Murphy (112) + Embley (90) + 3 G's (300) + DEF Rooks (60-65) = 1240

the second option is better, however, I really do prefer a more balanced team. It may change before Round 1, however, after what Ellis, Morris and Smedts did for me last year.... I just can't field 3 DEF Rooks

Fair enough mate, i understand. Hopefully 3xBugg's pop up before the season starts :p

Holz

I would look at him in SC as when he gets the ball he uses it very very well. He just isnt an accumulator, he might be one day but i dont think he is worth a spot in your DT team.

I rate him very highly as a player and he will be a gun SC player. You can find better options though.

yep well said mate

How will North set up there half back line? Surely Jacobs is good enough to get a game?

I'm not sure on North players, some of the good players are still a bit young, if we can guess the breakouts we'll be laughing

he's been training with the inside MIDS... we can't guess but we can take educated estimations of break outs, and he's on top of the list

Yeah, agreed. He's much more suited to SC, doesn't look like he'll ever be a big ball winner, which doesn't sit well for DT.

do you like any mid-price DEF then?  ???

timmyparso

Worst case scenario for Atley is he holds his value. At current price he isn't going to drop and with 2 trades per week I believe is worth the risk to pick him as a break out player, even if he only increases average by 10, you can use that to upgrade to a premium.

mid priced defenders that are looking like a breakout season are a bit too risky for me...
They're priced at 60-65ish (around the 350k) and a breakout is considered 80ish (around the 400k)
A midpricer like Ball/Embley holds a lot more value because they have the ability to go 90ish average hit 460k+ and make 100k-200k+

essendon2

Ball (90) + DEF rook (65) = 155

Def price def (80-85) + mid rook (70-75) = 150-160
