North Melbourne have played 10 finals since 2000.

They've lost 8.

The average losing margin of those 8 is an incredible 78 points.

78 points.

Wasn't this the team with the 'shinboner' spirit?

Honestly.

JBs-Hawks

They use up all the spirit getting to the final.

I remember one of those two wins against us in the 07 semi, i put a hole in my wall.

You can manipulate stats how ever you like to prove a point...why don't you see how many finals we've won since '96? ::)

But in finals the margin doesn't matter. And it was obvious today that in the last quarter when the game was over we didn't bother trying in the last quarter, when they added 10 goals.

Ziplock

I can't believe I tipped them... in hind sight, it was always going to happen.

tbh, GWS probably would have beaten them last week if we'd had an uninjured key forward.

Cicjose

everyone knew that the team that finished 8th was going to be making up the numbers

:/ if you think not bothering in finals is acceptable in any situation... well, this surprises me

I don't think it's acceptable at all, maybe not bothering wasn't quite the way to put it. Eagles outran us all day and North were clearly massively fatigued in the last qtr, and the fact that the game was over when they got the first goal of the last term meant that people started dropped their head and not chasing and spreading like they have all season. It's been a long year for a young squad and I'm not saying that no-one tried, it's just the efforts were left to too few and in the end it just caught up to us.

Dont worry about what anyone else thinks RooBoys.  I'm very proud of our young north team.  Yes they lost by a lot, and to a team who I think are the second best in the competition, behind Hawthorn, and this West Coast team have only lost 3 games in 2 years at home.  One of those to the dockers and the other 2 to Sydney.

But at the start of the season, if you said North would beat Geelong by 17 points, Collingwood by 30 points, and Carlton by 54 points, and make the finals. and have a run of 10 wins from 11 games, then you would take that anyday.  North were never going to beat West Coast.  We knew that.  It's the toughest trip in football.

Two big losses to the 2 best teams in the competition, Hawthorn and West Coast, but the rest of the season was good, and North under Brad Scott played some of the most exciting football since the glory days of King Carey.

West Coast beat a young North team in their first final at waverley in 1993, but that North team went on to become the team of the 90's, and 2 flags followed.  All north fans be proud of the football that teh club played this year and be optimistic about the future.

Some supporters want to bang on about the past finals performance, and that's surprising coming from a fan of a team that has only won 2 flag in the last 50 years.  In that time I've seen my great club North Melbourne win 4 flags.  The north team is still very young with tremendous upside, and we have a very bright future ahead.  North won 2 flags in the 70's, 2 flags in the 90's.  Forget about what anyone else says.  We at north know we have a good young list, and 2 more flags in the current decade could easily be on the cards.

Go Roos.  2013 and beyond.

roo boys!

Perfectly said mate. Like you said and like I keep emphasising, still a very young list and we had something like 13 or 14 blokes who had never played a finals match until yesterday. Certainly makes a difference, and they'll learn from what happened yesterday over in Perth. Onwards and upwards, and hopefully your prediction comes true (two flags in the decade) because I don't see why it can't. We have the players, we have the coaching staff, and we are building off the field as well with a record number of members in 2012, the biggest increase of any club and the huge success of the Box On campaign raising over $1 mil.
