Where does one start?

Without going through player by player or reviewing all of our SC strategies I thought it was interesting that of the top scoring 15 players for season 2012, that 8 of them actually lost money from their starting price including the top two (Ablett & Watson).

When you consider there were a couple of smokies like Ivan Maric and Shane Tuck it makes one realise when it comes to Premiums it's not always about value.

the main lesson learned this year (and it seems like at the end of every year ppl have this epiphany): SAVE YOUR TRADES.

Grazz

The byes werent the disaster i thought they would be. :-[

LF

I don't know why but I started with Cloke and I'll never pick him again.
Start with a strong ruck again.Even tho that eventually went to shower when Mumford then Hamish got injured finished the season with Giles and Kruezer.

NoButYeah

Don't flower around with a setup that you know works. Previous years I've gone a 3-0-0-5 mid or a 4-0-0-4 mid, this year I went 4-1-0-3 annnnnnnnd it just ended up wasting money AND costing me a trade. Won't be doing that again

colmullet

never pick up a cheap premo if he's cheap because of form and not an injury effected score.....they lost value for a reason!

Ablett started at 689,000 and finished at 701,700 thats a 12,700 increase.

true dat. couldn't have said it better.

Ringo

Biggest lesson learnt is do not plan for the byes let them take care of themselves because injuries and restings will flower any planning.

My sentiments exactly.

With all the planning i did for the byes, injuries hit me hard- lost 2000 ranking possies over the bye period. Next year, picking the team i want, not for effen byes

kilbluff1985

not to be in such a hurry to complete my team was done by about round 14 this year, next year will post pone 2-4 upgrades to get players that are inform come finals time plus doing this lowers the amount of premiums you have that can get injured/suspended

will plan to stick around the bottom of my top 8 in my leagues and sneak into the top 4 towards the end that's the plan lol

It is funny that you gents say that as there are few's opinion respected more. I feel lady luck plays a major factor in the bye rounds, as there isn't a 60-70 on the bench to fall back on, you go all the way down to a donut, which hurts you more. I think there's real value in planning for the bye rounds, but we need to remember we're at the mercy of lady luck.

A few on this site planned really well and had lady luck on their side, their rankings improved enormously. I think from memory your plan was almost flawless Ringo, but bad luck owned you during these rounds.

I think there's a danger though in trading in certain players just because of a bye strategy. The byes should be a consideration but quality and value for mine are as important, if not more so...

I think my team is a real testiment to how much luck plays a part in this.

Had absolutely no plan for the byes and had a shocker of a start to the season. All of a sudden, bye weeks come and go and I went from 62k after Round 10 to 19k after Round 13.

This one is important to remember for next year, isn't it Mr Cloke, Mr Dal Santo, Mr Martin and Mr Harvey!!!    >:(

And defenders are a waste of money. Except Deledio.
