So here we are.... 161 matches, and we have one left.

The Suns have Goddard, Sandilands, Hodge, Bartel, Goodes, Chapman, Burgoyne and Maric

The Cobras have Selwood, Cotchin, Watson, O'Keefe, Kennedy, Hawkins, Sylvia and Grimes.

But we should also reflect on all the achievements of the year, so fellow coaches, feel free to post whatever you like

Purple 77

Gonna be a ripper of a match looking forward to it and leaning slightly towards Cape Town. Really hope MC picks who I think he will for the Captaincy.

CrowsFan

Good luck to both teams and may the best team win!

On a side note I bet my team scores more than both of them this week :P

2012 was a stunning year for the Sao Paulo Puma Captain Gary Ablett jnr.

A list of accolades from the Little Master is below, and is easily the most decorated player in the League. Hard to believe he was only taken at pick #3 (Though Pendles and Swan also had good years).

Winner of Jim Stynes Medal (Worlds Best and Fairest)

All Worlds Selection (Midfield)

All Worlds Captain

Winner Sao Paulo Best and Fairest

2012 AAP Alliance Selection

2012 AAP Alliance Captain

2012 AAP Alliance Medal

2012 Worlds Medal

2012 O'Brien Medal

3rd Top Points Scorer

Basically, the only thing alluding Gary Ablett jnr is a Premiership Medal.

Brad Ebert Important for Suns Flag Hopes

If Brad Ebert lines up for the Mexico City Suns, he will be the only player to have played 21 of 21 matches for the Suns. Meaning, he will be the World XVs games record holder. Would have been hard to predict that!

He averaged just under 100 for the year, and amazingly missed out on any representative football.

Named in the Mexico City Suns best 9 times this year, and was just pipped by Aaron Sandilands last week for the Finals Champion medal, and a low score of 73.

Of the players who scored over 2000 points in SC this year, Brad Ebert is the 2nd most consistent, behind only Cairo's Leigh Montagna.

Maca24

He has been a revelation! And expect his consistency to be rewarded ;)

Remember the draft?

Picks of the round!

Yes, I know some of these picks could have been done for the long-term, but based on 2012 results and 2012 results alone....

Player (Club, AFL games, AFL average)

Round 1

Star: Gary Ablett jnr (Sao Paulo, 19, 139.26) - Superstar.

Dud: Tough, but even though Michael Hurley (London, 15, 73.40) averaged less, you gotta say Travis Cloke (Tokyo, 21, 77.86) the most disappointing. I'll give Bryce Gibbs (Seoul, 21, 93.86) a mention also.

Round 2

Star: Brett Deledio (Seoul, 21, 117.43) - easily best defender this year.

Dud: Matt Leuenberger (Tokyo, 3, 70.33) - again tough, so went with the injured Luey.

Round 3

Star: Jobe Watson (Cape Town, 21, 120.71) - amazing he went this low.

Dud: Ben Reid (London, 16, 65.94) and Jackson Trengove (New Delhi, 69.74) - what were they thinking?

Round 4

Star: Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul, 21, 116.48) - Again, amazing he went this low.

Dud: Robbie Gray (Toronto, 2, 70.50) sucks them in every year, though Robbie Warnock (Buenos Aires, 5, 82.20) was close.

Round 5

Star: Kieran Jack (Tokyo, 21, 113.81) - A guy who really stepped up this year.

Dud: Lots of injuries, but will go with Nathan Bock (New Delhi, 4, 61.75)

Round 6

Star: Dayne Beams (Moscow, 21, 121.75) just pips Josh J Kennedy (Cape Town, 21, 120.90)

Dud: Even though Mark LeCras (Mexico City, 0, NA) didn't play a game, would have to give it to Liam Jurrah (Beijing, 1, 43.00)

Round 7

Star: Callan Ward (Dublin, 19, 106.11)

Dud: Some 'ouch' picks here, but the perpetually injured Travis Varcoe (Beijing, 1, 12.00) gets the not.

Round 8

Star: How could Steele Sidebottom (Beijing, 20, 107.90) last this long?

Dud: Cameron Pederson (Toronto, 2, 52.00)

Round 9

Star: Brad Sewell (Cairo, 20, 101.65) played twice as many games as Nathan Foley (Mexico City, 10, 102.80) so he gets the nod.

Dud: Think Tyrone Vickery (Moscow, 9, 52.78) was more disappointing then Jason Winderlich (London, 2, 57.50)

Round 10

Star: Beau Waters (Sao Paulo, 18, 99.94) the stand out, clearly in the best 4 defenders this year

Dud: Mitch Morton (Beijing, 2, 27.50). Played late, but not often.

Round 11

Star: Scott Selwood (Tokyo, 21, 102.48) had a break-out year

Dud: Brad Symes (London, 2, 27.00) is on the scrap heap.

Round 12

Star: Shane Tuck (Beijing, 21, 115.05) is continually underrated

Dud: Nathan Vardy (Buenos Aires, 0, NA) couldn't get on the park.

Round 13

Star: Dayne Zorko (New Delhi, 15, 102.20) was an incredibly ballsy pick that paid off

Dud: Andrew Krakouer (Cairo, 0, NA) you don't want players that old with such serious injury concerns

Round 14

Star: David Hale (Toronto, 20, 96.85) a more than handy ruck-back up that some clubs would kill for

Dud: Jordan Gysbert (Buenos Aires, 1, 28.00), have to wonder about his future

Round 15

Star: Ivan Maric (Mexico City, 20, 113.30) probably the pick of the year

Dud: Chris Knights (Berlin, 5, 46.60) would have to be the most disappointing

Round 16

Star: Michael Johnson (Toronto, 21, 87.52) was solid

Dud: Plenty to choose from, but will go with Jasper Pittard (Cape Town, 1, 12.00)

Round 17

Star: Brad Ebert (Mexico City, 21, 99.24) week-in, week-out he performed

Dud: Israel Folau (Dublin, 12, 35.33) just pips 1 gamer Daniel Gorringe (London, 1, 35.00)

Round 18

Star: Rising star winner Mitch Wallis (Sao Paulo, 18, 87.50)

Dud: Gerald Ugle (Dublin, 1, 23.00)

Round 19

Star: Matthew Wright (Sao Paulo, 18, 89.78) was a surprise packet all year

Dud: Will Sierakowski (Dublin, 0, NA) after being traded as a rookie, many thought he would get a game.

Round 20

Star: Will Minson (Sao Paulo, 20, 95.35) the last few rounds showed why the Pumas were so hard to beat this year.

Dud: Max Gawn (Cape Town, 0, NA)

Round 21

Star: Danyle Pearce (London, 19, 85.95), showed a bit this year.

Dud: Brent Macaffer (Seoul, 0, NA), failed to get on the park.

Round 22

Star: Stephen Milne (Cape Town, 21, 70.71) - very hand pick up this late.

Dud: Gerrick Weedon (Wellington, 0, NA), didn't look like it.

Round 23

Star: Brent Reilly (London, 21, 91.95) a player averaging in the 90s this late is impressive.

Dud: Jed Lamb (Dublin, 0, NA)

Round 24

Star: Josh Hunt (Beijing, 17, 78.47) solid defensive option.

Dud: Steven Salopek (Mexico City, 0, NA)

Round 25

Star: Lewis Jetta (Tokyo, 21, 80.95), a breakout year for sure, though faded late.

Dud: Brent Prismall (New Delhi, 0, NA), the guy can't get on the park.

Round 26

Star: Tom McDonald (Berlin, 19, 72.47) - very good pick-up for a defensive option.

Dud: Richard Tambling (Moscow, 1, 31.00), almost by default.

Round 27

Star: Luke McPharlin (PNL, 20, 80.40), the old fella has game.

Dud: Cameron Bruce (Buenos Aires, 1, 31.00), the old fella doesn't have game.

Round 28

Star: Ben Hudson (Toronto, 17, 93.82) - imagine Cape Town wish they had him for the big game!

Dud: Matt Spangher (Beijing, 0, NA). Nope.

Round 29

Star: Brock McLean (Mexico City, 14, 102.86), has simply revised his career and is playing in a Grand Final this week.

Dud: Cameron Richardson (New York, 0, NA). A lot of hype about this mature age player at one stage.

Round 30

Star: Mike Pyke (New York, 14, 80.36), MIKE PYKE MANIA!

Dud: Chance Bateman (Beijing, 3, 24.33), *insert Chance pun here*

Round 31

Star: Will Schofield (Berlin, 17, 71.24), hand defensive option.

Dud: John Anthony (Pacific, 4, 37.25), doesn't look like he will become a consistent AFL player.

Round 32

Star: Jarry Geary (New Delhi, 19, 73.21), the defensive options shine through late in the draft.

Dud: Amon Buchanan (Buenos Aires, 0, NA), you don't want someone this old and not playing on your list.

Round 33

Star: Sean Dempster (Cairo, 21, 86.67) terrific year for a 33rd choice.

Dud: Nichomas Winmar (Seoul, 0, NA) picked him on his name, and shouldn't have.

Round 34

Star: Matt Maguire (Toronto, 16, 73.13), yet another defender

Dud: Peter Faulks (London, 0, NA), tough choice, but gave it to the mature-aged Faulks.

Round 35

Star: Joel Patfull (Wellington, 21, 62.95), low but consistent.

Dud: Antoni Grover (New York, 1, 46.00), and is done.

Round 36

Star: Paul Stewart (Buenos Aires, 21, 64.71) played finals football which was a great effort.

Dud: Henry Slattery (Cape Town, 2, 12.50) - meh

Round 37

Star: Sam Shaw (Wellington, 11, 75.64) - A round 37 pick that played finals football!

Dud: Seamus McNamata (Beijing, 0, NA) - 3 years as a rookie and gone.

Round 38

Star: Only 3 players played AFL, but Paul Seedsman (Moscow, 11, 44.73) pips out Aaron Young (Cairo, 11, 37.91)

Dud: Derick Wanganeen (Tokyo, 0, NA) - harsh, but he is the oldest player not to have played a game from the Round 38s.

National Draft Round 1

Star: Toby Greene (New York, 18, 94.33), what a star he was this year.

Dud: Tom Mitchell (Pacific, 0, NA) one of only 2 first rounders not to play, the other being Sam Docherty (London, 0, NA) but he is a little younger.

National Draft Round 2

Star: Devon Smith (Sao Paulo, 19, 65.63), was named in the best in a final this year. Star in the making

Dud: Mitchell Grigg (Pacific, 0, NA), the eldest of those that didn't play.

National Draft Round 3

Star: Tory Dickson (Moscow, 16, 71.75) the clear winner!

Dud: Sam Rowe (Tokyo, 0, NA), mature agers are meant to play a game.

National Draft Round 4

Star: Jason Blake (Moscow, 13, 74.31)

Dud: Alex Woodward (Cairo, 0, NA) because someone has to be, still under 20 though.

Preseason Draft Round 1

Star: John McCarthy (New York, 20, 68.65)

Dud: Brad Dick (Seoul, 0, NA) - still injury prone, but who knows could play this week.

Preseason Draft Round 2

Star: Kyal Horsley (New York, 12, 72.92), at one point everybody thought James Magner (Berlin, 17, 59.29) was going to be All-Aus but he faded bad.

Dud: Justin Clarke (Toronto, 0, NA) again, somebody has to be and he is the eldest.

Preseason Draft Round 3

Star: Clear winner to Sam Gibson (Pacific, 11, 74.73) nobody else played more than 6.

Dud: Adam Pattison (PNL, 0, NA), old and washed up it looks.

Preseason Draft Round 4

Star: The 3rd last pick of the entire process was remarkable - Clancee Pearce (Beijing, 21, 91.71) was HUGE.

Dud: Gavin Urquhart (Dublin, 0, NA) the poor kid looks finished.

Unlisted

Star: Mark Austin (No team, 11, 51.64) was the stand-out from this lot! Jason Johannissen (3, 60.00), Josh Hall (2, 26.50) and Lincoln McCarthy (1, 12.00) were the other players without clubs that played an AFL match.

Players without a club who also didn't play an AFL match were Trent Stubbs, Mark Blicava, Jordan King, Darren Minchington, Daniel Farmer, Anthony Long, Michael Hartley, Jack Lynch and Sam Michael. Those who aren't delisted by there clubs this year will be available in the National and Rookie draft.

My biggest bargains overall:

1. Ivan Maric in Round 15? The guy was the best Ruckman in the Worlds this year.

2. Clancee Pearce, in Preseason Round 4 - the third last pick and played EVERY match at over 90!

3. Dayne Zorko in Round 13, ballsy pick, but proved terrific.

4. Brock McLean in Round 29, many thought was on the scrap heap.

5. Dayne Beams in Round 6. If the draft was held now, would easily be a top 10 pick.

CrowsFan

Think it's a bit harsh though Ossie that you gave Rowe the dud for his round considering he got cancer!!
