I know many threads have been created in regards to the champion data ranking system and so forth, but how on earth did Shaun Burgoyne only score 128?
26 posis, 16 contested, 88% disposal efficiency, 3 goals (including the winner), 0 clangers, 7 clearances...
Lets compare his score to Ablett for example,
23 posis, 11 contested, 65% disposal efficiency, 1 goal, 2 clangers, 3 clearances for 124 SC points..

He was on about 117 points before that final goal too, I really do not understand how other players who influence a game score high and how some don't. Very inconsistent.

In my opinion, Burgoyne's game was a 160SC point game. He was influential throughtout the whole contest.

agree.. you would think ROK got the winner, he was awarded 35 points for that goal top put them in front

He would have scored higher but I reckon O'Keefe and Kennedy took some points and a lot of players played good

The problem is there are only so many points to share around in SC and there were a lot of other good performers from the Hawks taking some of the spoils. Ablett will always score well because his scores are relative to the performance of the rest of his team.

Burgoyne was easily our best player. Didn't crumble under the pressure throughout the night and he did kick the one that put us in front.

At least 150, IMO.

They weight it up at the end of the match, surely they should have weighed up Burgoyne's score closer to 150 for the impact he had on the game. I guarantee you if ROK's goal was the last of the game, his score would have been around the 190 mark once weighed up.
My point is Burgoyne was already around the 120 mark before he kicked that goal that ended up being the match winner.

I suppose it shows how valuable kicking the ball is in SC.

Or tackling.

Understand ROK had a good game but how does he get 35pts for one goal. Understand if it was the winning goal but it wasn't.

He was scoring the same at Geelong with all those stars around him.

Thats my point, you would have thought they would have weighed it up with the final outcome.

Capper

agree but maybe Sewel's goal took some shine off it. Great game though

Zorko had a similar impact as Burgoyne, kicked some crucial goals and he got rewarded for his game, even though some other guys had a big impact on the game.
Would love to know champion data's reasons for the ranking points they gave out for the Hawks v Syd game, similar to Jeff Gieschen explaining dubious free kicks or umpiring decisions after a round is complete.

Maca24

I agree. I watched the game and Burgoyne was easily best on and crucial aswell as effective.
