Damian Barratt stated on the footy show that swanny was suspended for 2 games for his drinking, but there were other issues

involved. some of the players thought that possessions in his 40 + games were not for the benefit of the team. does this

mean that he's hogging the ball ?? what does that do for his captaincy chances in dt ???

I heard this too and was a little worried. However, it hasn't been made nearly as public as the GAJ incident and a lot of Swan's disposals are positive ones (versus racking it up along the HBF). Still, it gives me a little bit of doubt...

I think you'll find his 40+ possession games come with a high number of goal assists, tackles, marks (from creating space & gut running) - which often result in a goal/behind.  Plenty of clearances from the centre to the fwd 50 and from the back 50 to the centre.

I doubt his possession count will be affected.  He doesn't have the highest game time either.  He just works hard and keeps his feet during contests.

Im not saying its happened or not, but if I just won a brownlow and my team is still a strong contender for the premiership... i wouldn't be changing my game too much - regardless of what people say.  But hey, that may just be me.

What are they trying to say? If he's got the ball he either won it himself or was given it by a teammate. Sure he could be a bit more defensively minded but Swan's always been that way. Maybe they should have a good hard look at their forward line before bagging a midfielder for racking.

Mr Craig is right, if they truly did say this they might want to tell cloke or dawes to get a mark. The roos compltely destoryed them last week, that's why they lost. Combined with no ball hog.

I think if there are other players working and running as hard as Dane Swan does to get the footy, then they can complain. But there isn't so if there is any truth then it has to be about his attitude rather than performance. But I doubt there's any truth to it.

If you ever watch a Stanton game he is, he calls for the ball in the most ridiculous places. Swan get so much of the ball for where he positions himself.
