I have one trade left. I can get Stevie J for Devon Smith, meaning I still have cover in every line (bar rucks until Redden or Campbell comes back) or I can hold. I have Stevie J projected at about 135 this week (read my captains article) and I think it's now or never for him. However, if I use my trade now, I won't have any for next week when the late outs come.

I'm sure one answer or the other is obvious but I'm stumped. Thoughts?

Forward line: Sidebottom, Dangerfield, ROK, Chapman, Martin, Zorko, Goodes (D. Smith, Crozier)

Are you currently playing Dev Smith on the field or is he bench cover? Who goes on the bench if SJ comes in?

Mr.Craig

If you're confident in the cover you have then I think it's a justifiable trade.

Yeah i agree with Mr Craig on this one regarding bench cover. SJ is a good in, and u just gotta hope for a bit of luck regarding outs next week. You'd be in the same boat as a lot of us anyway ( not the disipline traders) but there will be a lot of coach's going all out trying to make the G/F. Good-luck either way

depends.

Could you sleep at night if you didnt use your trade and you got kicked out of all your finals?

Pull the trigger. Stevie J could easily be the match winner for a lot of teams. If you're playing someone like Martin on the field it could end up close to a 100 pt difference if he really does go bang

To answer questions...
This is my current forward line:
Sidebottom, Dangerfield, ROK, Chapman, Martin, Zorko, Goodes (D. Smith, Crozier)
One of Martin, Zorko, or Goodes would go onto the bench after extensive research tomorrow (extensive = about 5 minutes). Who would you recommend I bench?
I would definitely kick myself if I missed out on league finals and this trade would've made the difference.
On the contrary, I would kick myself equally much if I would have made league finals either way and then it costs me next week OR Stevie J does poorly and it costs me.

Given the FWD line you've already got, I'd save the trade for next week.  SJ is great but its not like you're going to be playing a dud instead of him.  2 trades left then I'd give it some serious thought, 1 left and you're leaving yourself wide open to additional pain next week.

id pull goodes off against hawks..

Got a feeling he will not have a good day and dusty will be up and about against a down and injured bombers side

Why do you say that? The Hawks are one of Goodes' best teams (statistically) and are one of only four teams he's scored a ton on this year...

Also, everyone, I added a poll.

your forward line is strong enough i would keep the trade

Definitely a tough one... my decision was pretty much made for me with Robbo out, although in my case I'm lucky enough to have another trade left for the GF (if I get in that is!). However, even in your case, I'd still bring Johnson in. It will improve your changes to win your GF, whilst making your bench cover more reliable (I'd probably bench Martin over Zorko, but it definitely isn't an easy choice, I myself have the same dilemma...). The key question is though, do you have a fwd/mid in your midfield? And if so, who do you have? That could give you a bit of extra breathing space if there are a lot of outs come GF time. However, I still think either way you will be fine, as like you said you have cover on every line. Barring a complete disaster, having quality players on your bench like Martin/Zorko and Gibson (I'm assuming you've got him), should mean that unless there are a huge number of big outs, you'll have cover.

Good luck mate, I'm gonna need it myself this week too, going to be a close one (though luckily I have Swan and he doesn't (at least for the moment... touch wood!), so it will all come down to whether or not Swan can pump out a big one vs Ablett!).
