Since this forum seems dead of late, I started looking at my team retrospectively and seeing where it all went wrong. My rookie choices were good, had some decent mid-pricers, but some of my premiums let me down for the investment I made. So I decided to start a list.
What have been your biggest disappointments for the year from your premiums?

These could be trade-ins or from round 1.

I’ll start, and I’m sure I am not alone in this one.

Tom Rockliff
Average 97.3, buy price $554,200, total points 1945
This bloke has just gone on the never again list. Even if he gets MPP next year, there are better options. Spud. Should’ve gone Watson. Rating 3/10

Scott Pendlebury
Average 109.5, buy price $556,900, total points 1752
Probably being a tad harsh here, but when you look at it Pendles has not had the season we expected. Pendles is a bonefide gun and I expected him to have a 120-125 average by year’s end. I should’ve traded him when he broke his leg and missed 5 games. Should’ve gone Swan. Rating 6/10

Scott Thompson
Traded in R12- Average (in my team) 98.4, buy price $479,000, Total team points 886
Red hot early season form has almost evaporated from this bloke. Has been consistently average since I got him in. Should’ve gone Swallow. Rating 6/10

Brendon Goddard
Average 95.1, buy price $474,200, total points 1711
He has been excellent the last month, but up until that point he looked disinterested. Not sure he is a defender lock anymore. I’d probably pick him again as a trade-in, but value is now questionable. Rating 6.5/10

Everyone has Goddard so it doesn't matter.

pendles and ablett are 2 definate lock em in for me. Very suited to s/c scoring. Had pendlebury not had injury. i go as far as saying he would have matched ablett this year.

Ajax22

A defender averaging 95 being labelled as disappointing... Now I've seen everything

Adamant

Rocky's been terrible this year (mainly because of Voss playing him fwd) will probably still pick him if DPP but never again as a pure mid.

By Brendon Goddard standards he has under-performed the last two years.

DT-SC

Michael Johnson
got him r.13 with an average of 91, scored above 90 in 8 of 11 games
averaged 70 for, topped 90 twice over 9 games
>:(

scott selwood!! may not be a premium, but can a player ever tease with scores of 140 and thewn drop off , only to punch out a 140 after you almost make decision to get him out!!

He is a gun, probably the best player in the competition, and you're right his injury didn't help things. Looking to next year I don't think he has the DT 'slut-a-bility' to have a 130 average like Ablett and Swan.

Maybe the emergence of Beams has hurt his scoring just a bit too.

First picked for SC though

Brought Pendles in RD 10, got injured that round. Definitly wasnt my greatest trade  :(
Scotty Thompson has been average since I brought him in RD 13
Robbo has had 4 sub 90 scores + missed three matches since bringing him in Round 11
Rocky, Martin, Selwood have been pretty average all year

Yeah he has, but still a great scorer. All the talk about not picking him up next year is pure bs.

Dustin Martin for me has been very dissapointing

Think I'm gonna make a criteria for when I pick premiums next year.

They must all fit into this criteria :

1. Be in a good side or an improving side.
2. Not play under a shower coach e.g Ross Lyon (this excludes Nat Fyfe)
3. Played more than 4 years of senior football. (this excludes Nat Fyfe)
4. Must not have too much of a history with injury (this excludes Nat Fyfe)
5. Must not have burned you in the past e.g Sylvia, Higgins, Grimes (this excludes Nat Fyfe)
6. Must not be over 30 years of age.

As well as:

Defenders
1. The player must have averaged 85+ or a total score of over 1800 in the previous year.
2. The player must have atleast one more season of averaging 85+

Taking into account my thoughts about DPP, I'm currently locking in : Goddard, Gibbs, Birchall

Midfielders:
1. The player must have averaged 105+ or a total score of over 2250 in the previous year.
2. The player must have one more season of averaging 100+ (excludes Trent Cotchin)

I'm locking in : Swan, Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Cotchin

Rucks:
1. The player must have averaged 85+ or a total score of over 1800 in the previous year.
2. The player must have atleast one more season of averaging 85+

I'm currently locking in : McEvoy

Forwards:
1. The player must have averaged 85+ or a total score of over 1800 in the previous year.
2. The player must have atleast one more season of averaging 85+

Taking into account my thoughts about DPP, I'm currently locking in : Stevie J, Zaharakis, Fyfe

So there it is. If i went on a criteria like this I wouldnt have started with Rocky or dusty this year (wouldnt have had Watson though because there would of been injury concerns)
As good as it feels picking the young exciting blokes (e.g Rockliff) we just cant be 100% on them. So next year I'll be going with the proven scorers. And before u ask I do love Nat Fyfe (not gay) and I am thinking of going a 3-5-1-2 structure in terms of premiums

tbagrocks

Joel Selwood at over 540k+ hasn't done quite what I expected >:(, won't be in my DT again >:(, SC yes ;D

i shafted him a few rounds ago now (pre rd16) and he's done nothing but score tons since >:(
+1 to the MJ vote, he's been naff for me since rd11
