Saints Fans. Notice there isn't as much banter from our boys as some of the other clubs so I thought I'd get some discussion going.

I like the way that Watters has managed to introduce quite a bit of youth this year, while still remaining competitive.

My concern is that a large number of our regular senior team probably won't be around to see our next flag, and may be restricting the opportunity of some kids.

I also think that it worrying that with a fairly 'middle of the ladder' squad, we have no salary cap room to chase talent when it comes up.

Personally I'd be trying to trade or move on Goddard, Montagna, Koschitske, R Clarke (as if anyone would take him), Blake, Milne, Gram, Fisher, Schneider, Dempster, Polo, and Ray. Possibly even Riewoldt.

Thoughts?

You wouldn't have much or any of a team left... :-X

thats where the guys you trade in come in. I would try and move on goddard first and see if you can get deals for the other guys.

I think my opinion comes from the fact that we don't have many potential champions in that 20 - 27 age bracket outside of maybe Jack Steven.  Would love to have a Dusty Martin, Nat Fyfe or Patty Dangerfield coming through to provide hope for the next few years...

I'm more surprised that you'd keep Gilbert over all them. ???

Add him to the list. Brett Peake too.  Sad Im thinking of more and more.

Some of those blokes play important roles at the club and you obviously can't have all A Graders, but particularly when they are commanding big dollars (Goddard, Kosi, Roo, Montag) you want quality performance.

BoredSaint

We can't move all of them at once.. It would be too big of a shake-up for the club.

And it would be hard to bring A-grade players over due to our salary cap..

I suggest you let go of
kozi, peake, blake, clake, reiwoldt (retirement)
keep schneider ihe is very good around the goals
ray good ball user and good player given the chance
Goddard as much as the rumors say he will move on do not forget he gives his heart and soul for the club
gilbert give him some time to come right and trust me it will be worth it
gram beautiful kick of the footy just has been struck with injury
milne can't go forever

yeah I agree. get rid of all your key forwards.

Master Q

Montagna and Goddard will be gone by next season. I'd try keep Roo and get rid of Kosi to GWS/GC/Port etc and try and pick up some picks.

JBs-Hawks

Armitage bad Steven are the two to build your team around just need a big young forward and a gorilla defender
