when JROO told me that this was a rule (he was intending on using it with his next pick), I was a bit sceptical.

to basically build on what holz said, I'm going to use an example from euros, since you guys also have a pool of undrafted players.

last year, mclean wasnt drafted in euros. He went on to average 100 this year, and subsequently, holz held onto his rookie 1 pretty tightly. There are also a fair few gun defenders left (19-20 year olds averaging 70+), hence why there was so much heavy trading for the rookie picks.

But, this system would mean someone could skip national 74, and get rookie 1.

N74= mclean

I really doubt it.

as the tigers assistant, that's my take on this matter.

I can totally understand this but this is the first year, players are still being drafted and teams still being set. I agree that next season may need to change but I also do like this concept, bringing stratagy into play! We have only 60 NDP's in Asians also and that makes up to a team of 40, all the rest are rookies same as an AFL list. We all new the rules for the drafts and although I like it seeing it adds diversity, I can see the conflict, however surely it's to late to change for this year now?

Toot toot tbag - I reckon you won this one!

Well played.

Let's see what cw comes up with.

Don't count your chickens...

Be honest tbag... Would have you passed if Sam got drafted and taken?

Justin Bieber

But lol at what Zip said. National pick 74 is worth McLean. What a joke.

Adamant

A very, very smart move by tbag, but I think it's very unfair to the people (like myself and whatlez) who picked last in the initial draft, and now don't even get top picks in the rookie.

Nope but while being honest, would have taken him with pick 16 instead of Thurlow, also may have made another trade giving me both!

Justin Bieber

I would laugh if Port didn't take Sam, in saying that I want Sam lol

BEST TO FIX THINGS THAT CAN BE FIXED AND KEEP THE COMPETITION QUALITY.

I see no other way forward which is going to be fair to everyone other than to vote on the correct rule setup, usual voting rules of a majority decides the outcome.

If option B is voted in the draft will be rolled back to Tbagrocks pick #33 and he must choose to pick a player or PASS under the new rule.

If option A is voted in the draft will continue from where we are now at with the old rule staying in place.

PART 1. for the remainder of this national draft one of the following will apply (VOTE)

A) Teams who pass in the national draft get a compensation pick at the start of the rookie draft.
B) Teams who pass in the national draft get a compensation pick at the SAME PLACE in the rookie draft (eg, 33 for 33).

PART 2. for all future national draft rules. (VOTE)

A) Teams who pass in the national draft get a compensation pick at the start of the rookie draft.
B) Teams who pass in the national draft get a compensation pick at the SAME PLACE in the rookie draft (eg, 33 for 33).

This may seem unfair to Tbagrocks, however it is the only way to resolve the issue and it is clearly an issue.

If the rule changes in the end Tbagrocks has lost nothing he still has his pick #33 national and the option of what to do with it if the rule is changed.

If a rue is bad or wrong it should be changed before it damages the competition and we can fix this now so we will if the majority decides it needs fixing.

All coaches have been sent a PM to vote, votes can be placed in this thread and or PM to me, 9 votes decides the outcome.

IF THE RULE IS VOTED TO BE CHANGED I WILL DELETE ALL PICKS AFTER TBAGROCKS AND RESTART THE DRAFT WITH PICK #33.

IF IT IS VOTED TO STAY THE SAME I WILL JUST RESUME THE DRAFT FROM THE LAST PICK.

It's not about what the clubs think about them, it's all about what they do on the field!, if a player has 30 kicks and they all go to the opp he still gets 120 points ;)

It's not about how good the player is, you won't see Daniel Talia in my squad, but is he in the most improtant to the team? It's all about guys that get the footy!
