Looked at the schedule for this summer, we are ripped off. >:( Last year Adelaide got a Test match, and like heaps of ODI's, this season we've been ripped of everything, nearly. >:(

22nd - 26th November: Test vs South Africa (One of the 6 played, 3 vs RSA, 3 vs SL)
13th January: ODI vs Sri Lanka (One of 5 played)
No ODI vs West Indies: Canberra get an ODI of all places.

And in the domestic comp, our Big Bash matches:
13 December: vs Heat (That will be good, Roach, Watson, Vettori, Christian hopefully all playing)
23rd December: Really?? Gay time
27th December: Not much better than the 2 days before Christmas ::)

Add to that they've stripped the tri-Series, which was pretty decent last season. ::)
Well before you winge about Canberra getting a match find out why. Its going to be 2013 and its the centenary of the city and it will only be a one off as the only match here every year is the PM's X1. There is going to be lots of other stuff as well but this is the ACB's contribution.

I've got to be quite honest though Tassie have done very well on the cricket front. Getting the shield team in the early 80's with a population of around 450K and the ACT has a population of 350K but there is one significant advantage to the ACT in that they are not split in two like Tassie with the never ending north vs south debate. Cascade vs Boags - Hobart vs Launceston - Blundstone Arena vs Aurora Stadium - Hawthorn vs Kangaroos (if they made the GF play it in Campbell Town)

Actually I'm going to say that my own statement is crap in that Canberra is not split in two its split in 3 or maybe 4 because its NRL, Union, Soccer and AFL.

Looking for a convincing win against Ireland tonight to set us up

Cicjose

if watson and warner get out early we will be lucky to make 150

BB67th

Nah we should be right against Ireland. Watson will make a nice score. But what are we doing leaving Dave Hussey out of the side? He is our best T20 player IMO cos of his all round ability.

Also did anyone else see Mendis' 6-8 last night? Amazing figures in a T20 best ever by a bowler.

Jay

Yeah saw it too. Pretty incredible :P

Cicjose

not bad for someone with 2 years out of the international side

Great job for the Aussies with their bowling after losing the toss to Ireland on a great batting pitch. Got them to 123/7 with Watson (3/26) and Starc (2/20) the best for us. The Irish had the O'Brien brothers put on a 50 partnership but apart from that they couldn't get going. Let's hope the Aussies can chase this down easily and get a good start to our T20 world cup campaign.

well said BB :D

Well the match is over now with Australia winning by 7 wickets with 29 balls to spare. Watson (51 off 30) and Warner (26 off 23) got us off to a good start with a 60 run opening stand. White finished on 22* and hit the winning runs. The side did a good job, Watson man of the match and a good start to the World Cup. The only thing our side is missing right now is David Hussey, just a bit too top heavy at the moment and he would provide some big hitting power to the middle order. No idea how Bailey gets a game ahead of him. It seems Bailey is in there just for being captain. It begs the question, how important is a captain in a T20 match and could someone like Watson or Warner or even Hussey just take the captaincy instead?

Unfortunately Australian cricket is on a massive slide and isn't going to get better anytime soon. We are starting to look old and the young kids we're playing do t seem up to it. It's not that we're playing bad, we simply just aren't good enough. South Africa are well ahead of us, as are India and it kills me to say it but the Poms are far better then us at the moment. And u could even argue Sri Lanka could even have their noses in front of us. It's going to be a long summer :(
