+1. Bit farcical with the amount of Dpp's this year.

Let's hope next year we actually have FWD's in DT that actually play FWD as there role. It's like having an all-Australian teams, you wouldn't have Beams named at half fwd or something.  :P

Scrads

Reckon its getting increasingly likely players like Dale Thomas, Luke Shuey and Tom Rockliff will be M/F next year. Beams and Sidey will lose DPP no probs.

I like this. Give some new midfielders DPP to make it interesting... Instead of the same ones...

Yeah but Bailey hasn't been fit, 'what ifs' are (and rightfully should be) irrelevant.

Not to mention if Bailey was fit, he wiuldnt ruck 100% of the game, Roughy would still ruck a decent portion.

Cicjose

Bailey and Hale are 1 and 2 why would Roughy ruck at all? unless one went down with injury during a game

which has admittedly happened and likely to happen again

Because when Franklin plays, Bailey and Hale don't play in the same team ;)

I coukd mention so many of those players Cjc that will definitely be DPP

Cicjose

just because you are a goal kicking midfielder doesnt mean you should be DPP

Mate, that's your own interpretation of DPP, that doesn't necessarily mean it stands for everyone else. It's not simply 'goal-kicking mids' who get DPP. Lewis and Robinson kicked 9 goals each last year and still got it. Why ? Because they were used in forward tag roles for many times during the year. Lewis actually led the AFL in goal assists though and I can assure you as a Hawks fan they weren't 50m passes from the midfield.

Last year I actually had sidebottom in my team (he was a mid only) and just through watching him I knew he was a chance of M/F because he definitely played a fair amount of gametime forward. Beams came into the side towards the end of the year (he only played 14 games) and wasn't the gun mid he is now, and therefore played a damaging game across half-forward. I assume you acknowledge that the HF line is in fact part of the forward line, which is why Beams got M/F.

Zaharakis was another one who played half-forward. And Martin well he kicked 33 goals (i think) and you don't kick that many playing as a 'goal-kicking mid'. I don't think you take into account that players actually rotate during games I.e. they don't play the one position for the entire game. Just because someone doesn't play 80% gametime in the forward line doesn't mean they they can't be a forward.

Ziplock

...

that's what he said? like, just because they kick goals, like swan/ablett, doesn't make them a forward...

as I said, it's determined on the majority of time they spend in various parts of the gorund, but more importantly, where they pick up most of their possessions and stats.
