Can Pendles catch Ablett??

2012 All-World Team

Below we have the 2012 ALL-WORLDS Team.

Six players received perfect votes - 17 from 17. Those being Brett Deledio, Gary Ablett jnr, Jobe Watson, Ivan Maric, Lance Franklin and Dayne Beams.

Leading the defence is Seoul's Deledio, and is joned by Mexico City's Brendon Goddard, Sao Paulo's Beau Waters and Moscow's Heath Shaw. Buenos Aires' Heath Scotland only just missed out on starting 4, but earnt himself a place on the interchange. The other three defensive nominees didn't feature heavily with Grant Birchall (4), Shannon Hurn (2) and Corey Enright gettin a goose-egg.

Joining Ablett and Watson in the midfield were Armadillo Dane Swan and Toronto's #1 pick Scott Pendlebury. Cape Town's stunning midfield had 2 representatives with Joel Selwood on the interchange. Tokyo's Kieran Jack (8 ) got his fare share of votes but missed out, while there wasn't much love for Josh P Kennedy (3) and Scott Thompson (3).

Universally selected as ruck of the year, Ivan "The Mullet" Maric from Mexico City is named ruck. Not bad for a guy not even in the Suns starting XV at the start of the year. He was the clear choice over Dean Cox (5), Nic Naitanui (2) and Paddy Ryder (0).

Despite missing the last 4 matches, nobody wanted to leave out Brewers superstar Buddy Franklin, and everybody was pretty set in the forward line in general with Moscow's Beams and PNL's Pavlich featuring heavily. Seoul's Patrick Dangerfield was also a favourite, keeping out the unlucky Steele Sidebottom (9), with Jarryd Roughead (4), Cyril Rioli (1) and Ryan O'Keefe (1) down the list.

Who is captain? Because I was clever and forgot to ask people to vote, I've looked at a few factors when selecting Captain:
- Were they selected by everybody (17 times)?
- What do they average?
- Were they regularly captain of their club?

From that, I've said GARY ABLETT JNR is the Captain of the WORLD XV team with Buddy Franklin his deputy.

Six teams had 2 representatives each, with all of the top 4 having 2 each along with finalist Moscow and 9th placed Seoul. Toronto had 1 represenative, while finalist Beijing couldn't get a nomination. Bottom 4 teams Berlin and PNL had 1 member each, while the 6 other bottom 10 teams didn't get a nomination.

AFL wise Collingwood had a massive 4 representatives (and were close to 5 with Sidebottom) while Richmond's 2 were the only other AFL club to have multiples.

D: B Deledio (17, Seoul), B Goddard (16, Mexico City), B Waters (14, Sao Paulo), H Shaw (11, Moscow)

M: G Ablett jnr (17, Sao Paulo), J Watson (17, Cape Town), D Swan (16, Buenos Aires), S Pendlebury (15, Toronto)

F: L Franklin (17, Berlin), D Beams (17, Moscow), M Pavlich (17, PNL), P Dangerfield (14, Seoul)

R: I Maric (17, Mexico City)

I: J Selwood (13, Cape Town), H Scotland (10, Buenos Aires)

Capt: G Ablett jnr (Sao Paulo)
V-Capt: L Franklin (Berlin)

Coach: TBA (Grand Final Winner)

2 - Buenos Aires Armadillos, Cape Town Cobras, Mexico City Suns, Moscow Spetsnaz, Sao Paulo Pumas, Seoul Magpies
1 - Berlin Brewers, PNL Reindeers, Toronto Wolves
0 - Beijing Bears, Cairo Sands, Dublin Destroyers, London Royals, New Delhi Tigers, New York Eagles, Pacific Islanders, Tokyo Samurai, Wellington Warriors

Fair point.
Just shows how a champion team will beat a team of champions.
Too bad we aren't a champion team
