Agree Noz but maybe in a fight with Staker when he returns to make the 22. Docherty is also in the wings. As I have said on quite a few occassions Brisbane now has some depth in most positions with competition for spots which all goes well for our future.

Chance of making the 8 next year?

You would think GC and GWS will start to rise next year and the year after

I reckon we are a decent chance of making the 8 next year. In games where we beat top 8 sides like the Crows and Eagles, we really played well as a team for 4 quarters. We did everything right and the structures really held up. All of the young kids will have some more experience and we will get people like Staker back from long term injury. The future looks bright for us and I think we could genuinely challenge for a top 8 position next year.

I'm interested to see if Staker will go forward or back next year.
Also interested to see if we have all 3 ruckmen fit who will play

Well Leunberger would be a walkup start when fit, probably Hudson would be next in line and give Longer the time he needs in the reserves to develop. Takes a long time for a young ruckman to reach his full potential. Would we play Hudson and Leu in the same team though? They are both really first ruckman and we do have a few options like Merrett that could play a pinch hitting role if needed.

Would not be surprised to see a trial of a Berger/Longer team with one a resting forward.  Do not see Hudson/Berger playing together though.

brisbane won't be on the up while polkinghorn is in the team
Bit harsh brucey? Haha
Polks is a much improved player in the lions team and plays the role voss asks for week in week out! I think polks would be one of Vossy's first picked players like Toovey was to Malthouse.
Just like LRT, but the Hyphenator is better in every way :)

PS. Please don't kill me :)

Don't forget there's also Lisle who can of a bit of hitting. The lions were using him over Merrett, weren't they

Problem solved if we get Tippett but do not want us to pay too much for him at the expense of Cornelius and Lisle who are both showing promising signs.  Lisle did well in the last few games when called up so would like to see him continue in that forward role.
It would appear that we may be losing Karnezis.
Do not forget we also have Sam Micheal as a developing Ruckman as well.  BOG in the NEAFL Grand Final.

Following trade period thought I would re visit this thread and update my best 22 for 2013 for comment:

FB: Maguire; Merrett; Patful
HB: Adcock; Harwood; Hanley
C:  Rich;  Moloney;  Redden
HF: Beams; Brown;  Zorko
FF: Green;  Staker;  Rockliff
RUC: Luenberger; Black; Raines
INT: Martin; Polec; Lester; Golby

Unlucky players Bewick, Yeo, McGrath; Docherty, Longer. Lisle and Cornelius.

Will give a lot of cheek. Thoughts.

You know looking at the team there, it isn't too bad, pretty solid all round really, with some good players in the midfield. I think that McGrath will get a spot in there though, possibly ahead of Beams or Green?

One other that doesn't seem to get mentioned is Polkinghorne. He may not be the biggest possession getter every week, but looking over the Lions season highlights, we seemed to play well when he did. He is good at getting the crucial touch to set up the play at times. That being said, he always looks like a player who is one bad game away from being dropped and really needs to improve his consistency.

Ringo

Forgot about Polkinghorne but can not see him forcing his way in either so he joins the ranks of the unlucky.  Think McGrath is starting to slow down a bit and that is why I select Beams and Green before him. Bit either way for the first time in a number of years we look like having decent depth all round with the recruiting we have done and with players developing like Michael and Bartlett.

strikes91

this is to me what I think the strongest side it

B: Maguire - Merrett - Patful
HB: Hanley - Adcock - Golby
C: Rich - Redden - Black
HF: Staker - Brown - Martin
FF: Green - Cornelious - McGrath
R: Leuenberger - Rockliff - Raines
INT: Moloney - Docherty - Zorko
S: Bewick

Ringo

Think you have pretty well nailed it

Just a few changes though based on my observations at training Interchange Rich and Hanley as Hanley has been training with mid group as well, (Rich will probably be used for kick ins with his accuracy and run),

I would start with Moloney in Centre with Black on interchange given Black is being managed this year,

Zorko will probably be at HF and Beams on the interchange instead of McGrath, Polec will also come into consideration,

Lisle, Cornelius, Martin, Polkinghorne and Lester will be fighting for the 2 spots with Lisle and Lester probably in front at this stage.

New recruits Mayes and Paparone look good at training as well.

For the first time in a few years we have depth which will help our charge up the ladder.
