Morton has been dominating the NEAFL all season and deserves a call up to the Swans. Morton has scored 64 goals in 10 matches for the Swans reserves. Including hauls of 10 two 8s and recently a 9 goal haul against the GC Reserves side (He also has 2 games where he hasn't scored a goal so basically has has 64 goals in 8 matches!).
Now i no the NEAFL isn't the strongest leagues out there but kicking 64 goals in 10 matches surly deserves a call up to the main squad.

Swans fans would you like to see Morton line up in the Swans main side this weekend.

Spinking

Really ended up at the wrong side didn't he...  Probably would be playing at alot of other clubs, but the Swannies have been so strong this year he might get kept out.

j959

No - he and Armstrong were only ever for depth.

see Andrejs Everritt and Spangher the year before ...   ;)

Cicjose

but im surprised Morton hasn't got more of a go considering his output at local level

Its sad for him. He has so much ability! Really wish the Tigers kept him. Hopefully he gets his chance soon but it looks to me as Dennis Lane is the fringe player that Sydney wanna pursue with over Morton. Whenever there is an injury to a forward Dennis lane is the one the Swans always go to, poor old mitchy. I'm sure when he gets a chance he'll take it! Unlucky

Trent Dennis Lane has been in fine form in the reserves so far in the 9 matches he has played he has scored 30 goals and was named in the best players 6 times.

Mitch Morton    64 goals  13 games (0 AFL Games)
T Dennis Lane  30 goals  9 games (6 AFL Games)
Nathan Gordon 25 goals 11 games (0 AFL Games)
Jesse White      24 goals 11 games (3 AFL Games)
Tommy Walsh  20 goals  13 games (2 AFL Games)
Matt Spangher   19 goals   8 games (0 AFL Games)

Are the main goal kickers for the swans reserves team for the 2012 season and the games in brackets are there games for the Sydney Swans main side.

Jarred Moore has been named 10 times in the best side for the Swans in 15 games and has been rewarded with 0 AFL Games. Campbell Heath and Harry Cunningham has been named in 6 times in the best side in 15 and 14 games respectively and has been rewarded with 0 and 1 AFL games respectively for 2012.

I think what these stats tell us is one of the main reasons Sydney is on top of the AFL ladder mainly because their depth is amazing and they have several players who they can call on in numerous positions if needed.

Wow great research Noz!  A cheer for you :) your exactly right.  Their drafting over the past few years has been first class and has put them in this position. Thats the difference between the top teams and the ones jostling for posisition in the 8. Carlton and Essendon's best 22 for example make them top 4 sides, but when injuries set in they fall away quickly! The Eagles and pies at the top of the table have been struck by injuries but their depth has kept them in the hunt. The Swans missed Goodes for a while and played well without him, they havent really had to call on their depth as of yet in 2012 but i'm sure when needed they will play their roles!

I admit i thought just reading the seconds reports that Morton was going to get a call up sooner, but he should play this weekend, and he had better grab his chance. Reid will miss 2-3 weeks and Mitch will be fighting TDL once Reid returns.

The swans depth has been one of our strengths this year, guys like Campbell Heath, Cunningham and Gordon are all long term first team players, the others unfortunately will be starved for oppurtunities in the short term.

Have this guy in the euro's. Hope he takes his chance this week!

Great to see him named! Hopefully he makes the 22 and takes his opportunity :)

Noz

Campbell Heath has been on the list for 4 years.

Hopefully Morton makes the final cut and tries to cement a spot in there 22 for the rest of the year.

Cicjose

is Morton seriously the best forward not playing regular AFL footy and if he is who would be closest to matching him at lower levels?

In the NEAFL, Sydney Swans trio Mitch Morton (six goals), Tommy Walsh (six) and Matt Spangher (five) put in a show in their 121-point belting of Hills Eagles.

Ziplock

the swans massacre everyone in neafl. Keep in mind it's probably the weakest b-grade comp.

Capper

Spanger will come in before Morton and TDL is ahead of both of them. LRT have been a revalation up front

Noz

Has kicked 11 goals in the 2 weeks since i have posted this.
