JamSainter’s Very VERY rough 2013 team guide!
Obviously, this is a bit of light fun and a chance to see what everyone is thinking about onwards to 2013. Lots of cheapies, but their selection requires a solid preseason of course.

MID: G. Ablett (680k), D. Swan (650k), S. Pendlebury (650k), L. Whitfield (190k), J. O’Meara (rookie), J. Viney (rookie), A. Morabito (rookie), B. Crouch (rookie)

FWD: L. Franklin (610k), D. Beams (610k), S. Johnson (550k), D. Martin (480k), T. Varcoe (290k), R. Gray (360k), M. LeCras (340k), J. Daniher (rookie), (rookie)

DEF: B. Waters (500k), G. Birchall (500k), B. Goddard (480k), N. Bock (370k), B. Staker (210k), D. Astbury (125k), (rookie), (rookie), (rookie)

RUC: N. Naitanui (540k), M. Leuenberger (430k) <<< N. Vardy (200k), B. Grundy (rookie)

= $9, 965, 190 roughly :P

So, what does yours look like?

Crouch and O'Meara will be bottom priced next year. LOCKS

Beams has 0% chance of being listed as a forward in 2013

Oh yeah those rooks are locks but Beams has kicked 20 or so goals this year and is named at the FP in most games to start off. I can't see both Sidey and Beams losing their DPP. One will retain it.

They both play majority midfield, so they'll be mids only. Doesn't matter how many goals they kick. Dustin Martin will retain MPP because he starts in the forward line often. From Collingwood: Wellingham will be the one who gets MPP, probably Dale Thomas too.

Danniher will be useless in his first year. Too skinny for any real impact in the AFL in his first season.

Don't fall into the Colqhourn trap! In the final game at the nat championships he wilted whenever there was any pressure on him. When the pressure goes up a notch he will be exposed.

I started having thoughts about my 2013 lineup months ago when my team started to go down the tube. Without looking at any of next year's draftees and guys like O'Meara and Crouch, here are some of my notes:

Backs:
- Birchall is an absolute lock. One more preseason and he could potentially be the next top back premo
- Goddard at his new club!
- Waters and Hanley both worth a look
- Bock will be a nice mid-pricer like Lake, could finish up as a D7
- Heppell will take the next step. Should start at a reasonable price
- Sam Docherty and Matthew Buntine if they don't play for the rest of this season

Mids:
- Start with any 3 of Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Thompson, Watson and Swan
- I expect guys like Murphy, Swallow, Redden, Cotchin, Sloane, Shuey & Kennedy to become super premos (if they haven't already)
- Maybe Luke Ball or Luke Hodge as a M4
- Tom Mitchell and Morabito could be good bench options

Rucks:
- Set and forget rucks is a must (McEvoy/Jacobs/NicNat/Leuy)
- Possibly someone like Nathan Vardy as a bench option, if he comes back and makes the Cat's best 22
- Max Gawn is another possibility. May play some games next year as Jamar's apprentice

Forwards:
- Right now Buddy is my only absolute lock. Martin, Robinson, Rioli and Fyfe are also up there
- Sidebottom, Dangerfield and Beams are likely to be mids only (Beams 100% will) but would grab 1 or 2 of them for sure
- If LeCras has a full preseason he will slot in nicely like Porplyzia did this year. Potential F7 keeper
- Daniel Menzel and Brent Macaffer are two guys who could be worthy of a bench spot, providing Menzel can get his fitness back and Macaffer doesn't return this year

lecras should be porplyza price. that would be juicy. docherty will get ruined by playing. hes into the emergencys so wont be long.

matto76

problem with Joe and jack, Melbourne and Essendon will be forced to take them in the first round possibly with there first pick so there prices wont be bottom prices. Quiet easily be between 180-200k straight off the bat. Second point Joe wont play that much next year he will be eased in just like he has been eased this year in the VFL.

Lecras, grey, hodge all in the forward line would all be at a great price next year. I can see people only picking buddy in the forwards then all dropped premiums and rookies next year

Ringo

Rockliff if given forwrad/mid Dpp would be a lock in forwards.  This may be on the cards given the amount of time he has spent forward this year,

I doubt hodge will be a fwd.. He's only there now since he's returning from injury

At the moment:

Waters - Hanley - Birchall - Hartlett - Bock - Toumpas - Staker - Buntine - Docherty
GAJ - Cotchin - Broadbent - Ball - O'Meara - Crouch - Whitfield - T.Mitchell/Morabito
NicNat - Luey - Vardy - Gawn
Rockliff - LeCras - Christensen - Krakouer -B.Kennedy - Gray - Fyfe - Macaffer - Rohan

NO WAY that will fit under the salary cap though. :/
