AFL abandons 2 bye plan

Don't forget that just because they are scraping the 2 bye round plan, they are still most likely going ahead with the 2/2 sub/interchange. This means during the multi-bye rounds, you will need to try and have cover that will not be vested and will play each week, otherwise you may as well cop a zero.

surely the MBR's are not a good idea for the TV numbers for the AFL.

I dont know about people in Melbourne, but during the MBRs less AFL games were shown in Sydney (and i dare say in Qld)

We had 5 free to air games last weekend and during the MBRs there was a weekend of 2 games (Friday and Saturday)

Ok in Qld TAB we had at least 4 every weekend. But still do not like the Idea of MBR's.  Prefer the idea of 2 teams with a byes over 9 games.  So we have 14 full games of 9 mates and 9 rounds of 8 games.
