Prior to round 1 there were 10-15 players worth 600k+ and 1 priced 700k+ (pendles) 10 players 630k+

Now the most expensive is Cox ($629k) with a BE of 239. No one over that and only 7 players over $600k.

We spent WAY too much on premiums this year. Lesson for next year  ;)

I like this post and line of thinking.

However, I have waited all year for Deledio to drop, and drop he has, but I have fallen behind by a g'zillion points waiting for the drop.

Go for the cream at the start but pick the right CHEAP rookies.

ALL premiums were overpriced at the start of the year. Not sure if this is always the case as I'm relatively new to SC. ALL premiums had to score 10 pts over their previous average to maintain their price.

But isn't this inevitable? Isn't the pool of total money for all players constant?

When I spent 700k on Pendles at the start of the year i did so knowing that he wasn't a 700k player, but a 130ppg player.

We buy pretty much all our players at the start of the year knowing that they are probably 10-15% overpriced based on last years averages. (assuming that there is no discount for injury etc, rookies are rookie priced obviously). This can't be avoided.

We all look to find those underpriced players that will have a break-out or return to form of past seasons, but this can be futile.

Swings and round-abouts.

It is a good point, but if you are chasing an overall score there are some you just have to have.  Suppose it supports the guns and rookies strategy.

If you follow this therory Bomber your starting team in 2013 will be full of the 15th to 30th best players in their position, they're all overpriced, and unless they carve it up like Gablett early this year, they will all drop in price.

You have to take on some players who are going to drop in price. Which is fine. It's not like losing $100k on a player like Ablett or Deledio is going to kill you. The main thing (with respect to money) is having the right rookies who can then be traded out for premiums who have fallen in price.

If you avoid all the high priced stars from the outset, you're not going to have any chance at overall and you're probably going to spend your first few weeks in your league getting smoked by teams that have more premiums in their lineup.

Always going to happen.  The Magic Number changes as it levels out with all the new players, with GWS entering the league.

Next year prices might be a bit more stable, though still expect drops, however not as large as this years.
