why on earth would you think he was going to play as a permanent midfielder, because he spent a little time in there in the nab cup? lol, cmon. fyfe, barlow, mundy, crowley, de boar, mzungu, hill. all ahead of him in that respect (i probably forgot some too).

plus he has scored pretty well in his defensive role in years gone by anyway. up until his new fwd role 3 or 4 weeks ago broughton was having a perfectly fine season. i cbf getting his average before the switch but i'd bet- including his shower first few weeks- that he was averaging around 85-90, which is what you generally expect from your backs.

and what's the story with trading dustin? it's not like his role was any different to what you expected. you traded a premium after 2 bad games, the fact that he's underperformed this year is irrelevant, it's a bad move.

yes i still have broughton, he's on my bench and will be getting upgraded b/c of his new role, but i'm sitting easy in top 4 of all my leagues and have 8 trades left. cruising.

Ah because he trained with the midfield group during the preseason. Because he was interviewed and said he was going to play in the midfield and also due to Ross Lyon stating he was going to play in the midfield - is that good enough for you Mr Know All??????

As far as Dustin goes he aint a premium - he's not consistant enough to be a premium. A premiun is Scott Pendlebury type, not Martin

Worst trade was Pav > Cornes when Cornes was killing it and Pav was doing nothing. Thought Cornes would dominate in that loose role in the back. Ended up getting injured for 4 weeks and averaged 60 points in the time I had him.

My best trade though was Cornes > Pav in RD11 when Pav started turning it on  ;D. Fyfe to Roughead and Goodes to Beams instead of Sidebottom who everyone was jumping on were good trades too.

i dont claim to know it all, but i do know- beyond any shadow of doubt- that trading either of those players after 2 rounds was a mistake, regardless of the outcome.

as far as i recall they never said broughton would be an out n out midfielder, they said he would spend more time rotating through the midfield, which he did, and which was reflected in his scoring.

and picking dustin martin at 530k or whatever he was preseason with the thought that he wasn't a premium is boneheaded as well.

I couldn't give a stuff what you recall Fever - I know what I read and researched so stick it up your clacker. As far as Martin goes it looked like through the pre-season he was going to break out into a premium - obviously this didn't happened. As it turned out I sold both players for what I paid for them, unlike a lot of other coaches who lost a heap of money and points by keeping them.

I don't normally trade blokes early in the piece but it was very clear Martin and Broughton were not going to deliver and this turned out to be 100% correct. Get back in your box.

Thanks for providing the link - have a read Fever. After you've read it perhaps you'll come down a peg or two. This was just one of a few pre-season articles/interviews which suggested Broughton would play as a mid this season.

pretty much, everything said he was going to be a midfielder, his training, his nab, himself, lyon.

and that's why I'm never picking freo players again, unless they're heavily discounted.

My mate did something similar to that. When Scotland was injured my mate traded Bower and Scotland to Broughton and Dempsey. The next week Scotland was back and he traded out Dempsey because of the bye to Sam Shaw for cash so he could get in Priddis and trade out Zaharakis to Sidebottom due to his injury. Last week he traded out Broughton to Yarran who had dropped 100k from the price he got him to Chris Yarran. I told him to hold Scotland but he did not listen.

Mummy to Sandi... Sandi gets injured a week later..

Holz

this is the worst combo

Broughton to malceski round 3: than broughton goes on to kill it.

Eski gets dropped so i trade him to broughton 4 weeks ago.

2 trades used, lost 50k and about 350 points.
