I always read peoples comments on sticking the permaC on Swan or Ablett, and I think 1. its a bit boring and 2. surely i can get an edge by looking for a better captain. Well can I? Can you?

The answer is probably no, unless you are super lucky.

Rd - Me - Ablett-C - Swan-C
1 - 204 (Swan) - 272 - 204
2 - 232 (Swan) - 286 - 232
3 - 186 (Stanton) - 324 - 232
4 - 194 (Ablett) - 194 - 272
5 - 116 (Godud) - 342* - 342
6 - 234 (Swan) - 234* - 234
7 - 286 (Swan) - 212 - 286
8 - 190 (Swan) - 234 - 190
9 - 186 (Stanton) - 212 - 212*
10 - 136 (Sidey) - 372 - 372*
11 - 122 (Ablett) - 122 - 284
12 - 226 (Maric) - 296 - 296*
13 - 264 (Swan) - 264* - 264
14 - 204 (Ablett) - 204 - 344
15 - 266 (Boyd) - 208 - 210
16 - 262 (Boyd) - 256 - 232
17 - 330 (Swan) - 286 - 330
AVG - 213(Misc) - 254(A) - 266(S)

* not available so captain the other for that round.

Either or as PermaCaptain would be a fantastic result, I have missed out on 350-450 points on this error alone, and have probably lost a few league match-ups as well. Swan is now my perma-C and in his absence (not expecting any) Ablett will be. From now on I am going to be boring.... ;D

Yea my plan is generally to leave it on one of the 2 unless there are major reasons not to (injury concerns, horrible form against upcoming team etc).

I'm gonna guess that u only lost half the points ur claiming tho? Think u just did the straight addition of double captain scores?

Yes, always make that mistake. Corrected with thanks.

As much as we all loving saying; "Swanny and/or GAJ as permaCaptain/s."

Most of us will be tempted to look for an edge, and usually it backfires.  ::)

Like say going with Scotty T last weekend.

I think its just boredom mostly. If you're not looking to trade during the week then hunting for a captain option can just be something to do. For instance I'm not looking at any trades this week and I'm already starting to wonder about taking the C off Swan even with him playing GWS. I know its a bad idea but I just can't help myself

I made that mistake last weekend! Went Swan this weekend and will pick him vs GWS too!

I did this as well with Joel Selwood last weekend. Oh well, at least we will all learn for next year.

I think it was Koop on here last week who put the C on Zorko. Presented a compelling case, listened to all the knockers and then wore the modest score when most of us cashed in on Swanny. The risk is too great in my opinion. I see nothing wrong with looking at the premium handful (Swan, Ablett, Pendles, Boyd etc.) and weighing them up depending on opponent and conditions, but at the end of the day it is a big risk that doesn't pay off all that often...

Boyd's another decent option for captain, but not for perma-capt as he can get 70-80 once in a while

I've done the last few weeks well with captain choices  ;D
Round 15: Boyd captain(133), (Swan 105, Ablett 104)

Round 16: Boyd captain(131), (Swan 116, Ablett 128, Thompson 110)

Round 17: Swan captain(165), (Boyd 82, Ablett 143,  Pendles 142)

:)

Good write-up rider! Interesting to look at.

I wonder what the ultimate captain scores for the season would be? Ie; what you would have scored if you had put the C on the top scorer for each round.

That'd be a bit hard, you'd have to have all of them first! ;)

Yeah it'd be impossible. But still, one can dream....

+1 seems every time i went away from Swanny or Gaj i got burnt so i dont do it anymore haha.
Its either Gaj or Swan. Trying to hunt around for the highest scorer each week is almost imposible
to do consistantly and youd need to run at around 70%  accuracy to come in front of those two.
