I would say the mids and forwards make up for it ;)
Honestly I don't see much point in investing money into the defence and keepers. The majority of defenders get their points from clean sheets and since that relies on the other players to also defend well they can lose their clean sheet points without making a mistake themselves. So that's why I prefer to down the money in the mids and forwards since they get their points through individual efforts rather than team efforts.

Why exactly do you want help with Tom? Honestly I wouldn't bring in Ivanovic now Terry is injured. May be spending the next few weeks (or however long Terry is injured for) playing CB so he won't be running down the wings putting in crosses to get the assists...

agreed i'm finally using my WC too and i've gone super cheap in the backs

but will have same fwds as u but in mids will have
mikel (bench), Bale, Mata, Fellani, and silva( yes only just coming back and already had an impact at 9.3 jumping on befor ehe rises considering he started the season at 10)

I'd downgrade Valencia and upgrade Jelavic... if that doesn't get you enough then you might need to trade Hangeland as well though, not sure what his price is ATM but a good option might be Winston Reid from West Ham, who is at 5.0 and is the 3rd-best defender this seson

Bale to Silva is tempting but I'd give it another week

I'd go Shawcross and probably Hangeland cos Sunderland are in poor form in front of goal ATM

And flip a coin with your keeper conundrum :-\

I think I'll back Stoke in to have a shock win on the road :) Fulham have sucked defensively but as you said Sunderland haven't been great.
