Young Crows defender Sam Shaw will miss Saturday’s clash with West Coast with an eye injury.

Shaw, who was hit in the face by the football during Sunday’s game against GWS, has been told by a specialist to rest for a week.

Crows football operations manager Phil Harper said: “Sam had some blurred vision when he got hit on Sunday and he was off for most of the second quarter but he was able to come back on and contribute strongly to the team’s win.

“Sam then saw a specialist back in Adelaide on Monday and he has some bleeding behind the eye, so he’s been advised to not train or play this week.”

The injury will be re-assessed next week.

Ah well, still looks like he has cemented his JS, will be ready for finals.

Good find Ric. Unlucky for the young kid. Played well on the weekend. Welcome back Goddard though, and still have Morris as emergency so shouldnt bother me to much (touch wood)

this makes me very nervous, i have waters and sam shaw out and now have to rely on broughton and marty clarke to play.

What? He played his best football with one eye.

Oh well that means I don't have to bench anyone... hopefully Hargrave gets a game ::)

Went with the option to hold Waters and have Karmichael Hunt as my last defender.

Correct weight. He's definately in Adelaide best 22 so will come straight back next week. Thinking Brad Symes will be his replacement. Had another 35 touches in the SANFL.

Brad Symes must be hating life right now, any other club and he would be getting games but the Crows have hardly had any injuries at all, none serious  ::)  Hope it stays that way for finals!!

True everytime i read 'IN THE MIX' every week he's had 30+ touches but cant get a gig. Adlaide backline has been pretty solid this year and looks like they prefer playing the youth of Sam Shaw over him. Thinking Symes could take Doughty's spot next year (if he retires) and could become DT relevant again?

DT Relevant I'm not sure but Crows relevant I think yes. The imminent retirement of Stiffy Johncock should allow Symes to get more games. Johncock can't even perform that well at SANFL level and can't seem to find a role in the team. I think he will retire at year's end and Dogga Doughty won't be far behind him.

Symes should stick at it because opportunities will come his way in the not-too-distant future, potentially even this week given that Brodie Martin will miss with a hamstring injury and Luke Brown may have to make way as well

Hagebear

True. Yeah totally forgot about Stiffy. I guess symes could also be a bit a trade-bait but not sure what hes worth seeing as he struggling to get a game.

Symes shouldve never left Port

technically you could blame Symes for your problems over the past 5 years - he left end of 2007 didn't he? Then after that you turned to shower...
