I cant believe how many people have traded Franklin out, he will be out for 3 weeks. In both my leagues more than 50% of the teams have disposed of him. He will turn out to be a unique for me come finals.
I look forward to the many topics/posts with people cursing why they got rid of him.

I think for a lot of people that 3 weeks is vital to them making the finals or not so in that case he had to be traded.

I personally downgraded him to goodes which meant i could bring in a Prem R2 for Giles

My Chumps

Could turn out to be more as I doubt they want to rush Buddy back too soon....

We'll see. I was crucifying people for getting rid of Pendlebury with plans to get him back later, but that hasn't worked out too badly for them so far has it?

FonFatty

Couple of teams in my league are certainties for top 4 and they still offload, to be honest I was shocked.
I think alot of people that went Buddy --> Goodes will regret it. For those that went to Pav you probably will break even in the trade, similar output they will have, but Goodes is going to be a disliked player across Fan Footy after this weekend.

Hmmm big statement.
I agree with you that if you were guarenteed top 4 it's a pretty pointless trade. I think people in that position may be forgetting the dreaded resting players during finals.

Buddy hasnt got a cracked tibia, he has got a hamstring injury that will see him back against the cats. They wont be resting Buddy, they have a top 2 position they have to aim for.

The Bomber

I traded Buddy. This is for the same reason Quinny did.

1) Without Franklin's massive 200+ score he is averaging ~110. Don't think Goodes can match this output?

2) His finals are  - Port, GC, Syd, WCE. During the semi's and grand you can't expect him to give you a massive score when he is playing quality opposition. If his finals run was more like Adelaide, then he becomes even more valuable.

3) Hamstring injury, still an injury. They rushed him back against GWS for a percentage boost when they didn't need him for that. All they got out of it was an aggravated hammy which has him sidelined for the next 3 crucial matches for Hawks. If they win say 2/3 (depending on other teams as well), and sit more comfortably in the top 4, he may be brought back cautiously as he will be more valuable to them during the finals than the home and away season.

It would be smart holding him but for me downgrading (price wise) the 170k from Buddy->Goodes well out weighs the points difference...

kilbluff1985

he still got the 236 score and earnt it so why make up an average without that score seeing that most people get him in expecting a double century from him once or twice a year guess i'm saying making up an average without his highest score is pointless

Each to their own, I just think Goodes has past his best.
Im just glad I will have the great man in SC finals and he might be a POD for me against my opposition.

quinny88

Simple fact is that Goodes will score more than buddy for the remainder of the year because he will play 3 extra games..

I dont know how you can say he is past his best when he scored a 148 last week?

He was in most sides before he was injured and hes at a bargain price.. pretty hard to look past

devize

He's in only 1 team of the 5 I'm playing this week. Pretty surprising.

Hope for your sake you are right.
Not going to debate with you about him, the purpose of this topic was just to state how many teams have got rid of Budweiser, especially for a short term injury.

Exactly..
You would think most teams would have cover at this stage of the season.
I have Porplyzia & Saad covering for Bud & Martin.
If the ladder remains the same in one of my leagues, I will be the only 1 in the top 4 with Buddy in my team.
He could be the difference to me having a week off the following week.

quinny88

Hey keep in mind the #1 ranked team didnt have buddy even before his injury :P

Nah i agree though if your cemented in the top 8 and have cover he should deffinetly be kept

jamesalex

I traded Zaharakis even though trading Buddy gave me 100k. Did i make the right choice?
