Carrazzo no chance of being a DEF next year IMO...

LaHug

I'm thinking Zorko will be next year's Heppell. People will stay away because of his price for a second year player but he'll still average well enough to be in your team and, to an extent, maintain price.

Adamant

DEF: Gibbs, Birchall, Hanley, Heppell

MID: Swan, Boyd, Pendles, GAJ

RUC: Luenberger

FWD: Franklin, Fyfe, Robinson, Martin

POK252

Everyone knows that mids are the top scoring positions but at the same time picking the best rookies is hugely important. I reckon all the good rooks are likely to be mids (Whitfield, O'Meara, Crouch, Viney etc) Thats why I'll probably go with just 3 premo mids or 2 premo mids, a def-mid and a mid-fwd with the rest rookies.

Could be picking up 3 def-fwds with Brent Staker, Nathan Bock and my smokie (atm) Jack Watts.
Jarryd Blair is someone who I think could play more midfield and average 90 +.

bigballs

two of my first picks next year will be a. swallow and mark murphy. Should be reasonably well priced and will be absolute guns next year. In fact they already are absolute guns!!!

The Great #26

I'm thinking either Swallows, David or Andrew

Bluke

Mark Nicoski, Mark Lecras, Andrew Krakouer

Luke Shuey if he is fwd/mid

Nic Nat in the ruck

its me lads

Seems to be playing purely out of the square which may dent his. DEF chances:(

My players will need to perform well in an IQ test. More Duigan's and less Cloke's please.
Chris Dawes for a call up then?? ;)

Wouldn't be surprised if Rockliff was given mid/fwd status considering his stints in the forward 50 this year for the Lions, would be an auto lock for my team.

If Rocky is then Swan should be too.  Swan always rests down forward now.  In the match against Carlton I was watching him stand there in the forward 50 for like 15 minutes.  Never going to happen, but would be amazing if it did, lol.

difference is one's a mature aged recruit, the other's a highly talented youngster with room to improve. I doubt I'll every pick a second year mature aged player who's had a near premium average, on the basis that the reason players have second year break outs is because of massive improvements, but to be selected in the afl as a mature aged player you have to be, already, a cut above average, and with a developed body, there's less of a chance of developing enough over the off season to break out again.

Notable exception to this is danny stanley. But you look at curnow, barlow, duigan, puopolo, broughton, crameri, zac smith (although of those only broughts + barlow+ smith could have been considered quasi premium, and crameri was just average :P )

keep in mind those are just the mature aged players I could immediately think of :P

on that train of thought, what do people think of zac smith next year? under priced for his capabilities, looks like classic second year blues, and young enough that he could easily improve enough to break out. Frasers done, Day's their key forward, Gorringe has only played one game this year, and doesn't look ready, Hall's too small, Hickey might be ready to go next year, but is probably too light still.

anyway?

I thinkits a bit different because Swan rests forward where there have been games where rocky has played permanently forward when. Jbrown was out earlier In the year! Would be great if he did get it though

yeah definitely. he was great last year and has just disappeared this year. if he can get back to form next year he will be a great cash cow/keeper!

i was thinking this as well!!!!! andy swallow was absolutely terrific last night and if norths continue to develop into a competitive side, he could be a ripper pick up next year!!

and david swallow is a jet, third year break out anyone??

...or could we have both in our team?  :o

I actually think Hickey is doing more than Smith this year and it might have an effect on Smith's potential. I'm not going near him next year unless he shines in the preseason.

A mid of Swan and Ablett (just to be safe) with Cotchin and A. Swallow is a very realistic looking mid set up for me next season.
