I have been reading into the Beau Waters issue a bit more and he had arthroscopic surgery on his medial meniscus (a small procedure they say). I have been looking into this a bit more and have found 90% of sources saying that it is 4-6 weeks not the 3-5 that the Eagles have been saying. I guess it matters how bad it really is but i am getting the urge to trade him out now.
Various sites are saying different things but most sites have longer recovery than 3-5 weeks, if his injury is only minor then that may be true. Here are some snippets i found and the links if you don't believe me.

Your recovery time will depend on what, if any, treatment your surgeon performs on your knee joint. You should be able to resume your usual activities after six to eight weeks depending on the severity of your knee problems and your level of fitness. http://www.bupa.co.uk/individuals/health-information/directory/k/arthroscopy#textBlock253317

Activities are progressed according the amount of pain and swelling present in the knee. It typically takes about three weeks to recover fully for routine daily activities, but it may be two to three months before one can comfortably return to sports. http://www.hopkinsortho.org/knee_arthroscopy.html

When can I return to sports or full duty at work?
Your return to your desired activity level will depend on the extent of damage and the procedure performed on your knee.  In general, you will be allowed to return to sports in 4-8 weeks after surgery. http://www.toc-stl.com/info/meniscus.htm

When Can I return to Sports

A: Depending on the findings, 4-6 weeks after surgery http://www.hipandknee.com.au/kneearthroscopy.html

(about a baseballer recently)
The Marlins have declared a timetable of four to six weeks and barring a setback along the way, Stanton and his fresh legs should rejoin the team by the second half of August. http://espn.go.com/fantasy/blog/_/name/bell_stephania/id/8143659/miami-marlins-outfielder-giancarlo-stanton-undergoes-knee-surgery

Unless you have had a ligament reconstruction, you should be able to return to most physical activities after 6 to 8 weeks, or sometimes much sooner. Higher impact activities may need to be avoided for a longer time. You will need to talk with your doctor before returning to intense physical activities. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00299

EDIT: from website
"It was a small procedure to the medial meniscus and the recovery period is three to five weeks," a club statement said.

exactly right, i know what West Coast will do just as much as the next guy but now at least we are aware. The estimates are probably done for a normal person with a normal job but since Beau's job is footy then he will probably be at the club everyday, flexibility/exercises/strengthening then ice and repeating that for days on end to recover quicker.

yeah, as an elite athlete he'll probably firstly, have a faster recovery time, secondly, have access to way better facilities to help speed up the recovery. I had that operation on my knee when I was like 15/16, and a relatively major one in which a large portion of my cartilage was removed, I reckon he can *probably* be up and running in a week or so.

good point, he will have the best available and hopefully he gets up.

kilbluff1985

Just been scoping the Injury update site http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/afl-injury-list.php

Beau Waters listed as 2 to 6 weeks.  ETA return is Round 21 however this could be sooner than that.

Below is from there site advising what was done and recovery time.

Knee Arthroscopy

Knee arthroscopy is a commonly performed operation in football players. It is usually performed to repair or debride meniscal tears inside the knee joint. The knee meniscus is a layer of cartilage that is sometimes torn when playing sport.

The recovery period from a knee arthroscopy depends on the type of injury treated however the procedure itself is considered minimally invasive.

Football players have been known to recover within a week of having a knee arthroscopy. Adam Dykes of the Cronulla Sharks returned to playing rugby league within 5 days of a knee arthroscopy during the 2001 NRL finals series.

A knee brace may sometimes be required to help provide support and pain relief after knee arthroscopies

Windigo

Too much doubt to keep in keeping him I'd think.

Bodi

I am coming 66th Overall, still in the eliminator, winning 3 of my 4 leagues..... and I'm $hitting myself!!!!!

I have 4 trades left but probably wont be pulling the trigger on Waters simply because there are so many rounds left and I am bound to cop a season ending injury to one of my players at some point (I'm looking at you Grimes).

fertalong

I read the original post and was like "OMG I'm going to trade him now!!!!".
Kept on reading and now i'm back to where i started... Confused....

I think I'll wait a week and wait for some more info regarding the surgery and his recovery. I have cover this week and against a weak league opponent.

Plastic Boy

I went Waters to Goodes as I had the DPP link with the DEF/MID Goddard.

Stoked... got 155k in the bank to go Treloar to Pendles or Murhpy next week when they tank.

I don't have him but i reckon you've got the right idea about it fertalong!

At the moment everyone is just guessing; could be a speedy recovery like Scotland or could get dragged out by weeks like Pendles...

I think that by holding him this week there's a good chance you might be able to get a better insight into how long his recovery process is gonna take-but there's a chance that you might not learn anything new if the weagles are gonna play funnybuggers with it...

So by holding him this week if you've got cover you might lose like 30 points but you could save a trade if you know he's hit the training track by next week... Good thinking!!  ;)
