Trades left 6 - salary cap remaining $449k

Trade 1 - Giles out, move Hale to R2 and bring in Goodes
Trade 2 - Treloar out, move a DPP def to M for this week, bring in Yarran in defence.

Idea is to move the DPP defender back next week by trading out Ellis and getting final premo mid in. Then maybe week after last defender, giving me 2 trades for finals.

Thoughts?

Brett Deledio, Brendon Goddard, Heath Scotland, Beau Waters, Courtenay Dempsey, Carrazzo, Sam Shaw
Brandon Ellis, Lee Spurr

Gary Ablett jnr, Matthew Boyd, Dane Swan, Nick Dal Santo, Matt Priddis, Treloar
Sam Gibson, Hayden Crozier

Dean Cox, Jonathan Giles
Jarrad Redden, Orren Stephenson

Lance Franklin, Steele Sidebottom, Patrick Dangerfield, Dayne Beams, Paul Chapman, David Hale, Dayne Zorko
Taylor Adams, Aaron Hall

Good plan. Might not need extra defender trade with Yarran at D7. Leaving 3 for finals.

I would be tempted to do this
Giles to Goodes and Spurr to Yarran getting rid of dead wood from bench and settting up for finals.

Still leaves 4 trades which you can hold to finals with good bench cover.

dickitch

hmm potentially not a bad idea - i guess i have enough cash if it's only Yarran.  I liked the idea of getting rid of treloar as he has maxed out, but then i guess he is good cover.  I still ask the question of Spurr or Crozier, they both definitely gone for the season?

So Waters now out as well as Goddard. I'm still tempted to do the same trades though and hold Waters, taking a hit in the defensive line but could work out fir the final team still, good or bad idea?

buddy out for 3 now as well but you can cover him

dickitch

Yeh no chance I'm trading buddy out at this point, I'm just under the assumption we are all in the same boat with that one so should be OK.  I want Goodes in definitely, and a defender so can't see anything better than the original plan yet

Has to? I feel that as long as I'm not copping donuts he could sit on bench and be ready for finals.  I'm only after a league win and currently sitting in second, although do have a hard run home. I think i can at least leave it a week and revisit

charliesheen

His done his job as a mid-pricer, time to move him on, especially with Spurr on the bench.   Just delaying the inevitable, no guarantees he won't be a "late out" when you need him most in finals./

dickitch

Mid-pricer?  Isn't he the second most expensive defender out there?   I get your point, but do you think I can do the Spurr to Yarran trade and wait a week to see if there is any more news on Waters - I can then look in to getting him out if need be (prob water to H Shaw who could go down in price a little this week) - all this said i'm now questioning whether 3 Carlton defenders is a bit too many?

Waters was an mid-pricer to begin with.  With injury prone players the expectation is that they are simply placeholders that can maintain premium scoring for a period of time.  If they do become long term keepers, its simply a bonus.

His done his job perfectly, its not worth the risk keeping especially given his injury history.
