Hey guys.

So after much deliberation I have decided I will go ahead and run this again for the upcoming season. It's going to stick to the same format as last year, so 10 teams, play each time 4 times etc. That is unless someone can suggest some major improvements to the game?

Anyway the game isn't going to open for about another month, and then once it does we have about 2 weeks to draft our teams before round 1 of the season. So if you want to be involved you will need to be quite active.

Unfortunately this isn't going to be a first come first in type of game, I will be deciding who gets to participate based on previous activity, commitment to the game etc. So basically if you want to participate let me know in this thread, and I will decide the teams in due course.

Name has been changed to APL, getting rid of the pesky E that was hiding in the middle...

I'm keen, I wasnt on the forums last year though. So that puts me at a disadvantage. :'(

Does 15's experience count? Not that I have much, just an assistant coach to JB and have a team in that AFL draft thingo. :/

Count me in as always CF ;)

If you need any assistance, I'll be there.

I think you need to ensure people like Hilly don't participate, no offense to him BTW ;)

Koop being involved in other drafts will obviously help your chances ;) Will depend on how many people sign up...

Yeah fletch basically that's why I have said it's not first in gets a team since hilly has been in both years and screwed it up both times as well ::)

May someone explain to me what this is? I see it's pretty big so would like to know more about it. :D

Basically PB it's very similar to the WXV except this came first and is for soccer. There is a draft where all contestants draft a team of 15 players from the EPL. Then go H2H with the other teams each round of the EPL season. Only difference is in this we start fresh each season instead of keeping the same teams...

Are we using a scoring system?

aha, so something i can understand easily :P I may go with someone if that's ok with them, i may actually follow the EPL a bit more this way. Probably shouldn't make my own side, there are bigger soccer nuts out there. :D

Thinking I'm just going to change the name of this to the APL, don't know why the E was every put in there ::)

Anyway was having a think about the format and came up with 3 different options we could go with (obviously depending on numbers interested).

Option 1
Stick with the same format as last year. For those who don't know that consisted of 10 teams. We play each other 4 times, then the final 2 rounds are knock out finals for the top 4 (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3). This takes up all 38 rounds of the season.

Option 2
Go back to an 8 team league (this is what is what in the first season). This way we play each other team 5 times, leaving 3 rounds for the finals. This would consist of the top 4 again, but with the top 2 getting a second chance. Week 1, 1st vs 2nd, and 3rd vs 4th. The winner of 1 vs 2 goes to the GF, the loser plays the winner of 3 vs 4 in week 2, with the winner of that going to the GF.

Option 3
8 team league again, with the 3 week finals series, BUT we only play each team 4 times. This leaves 7 rounds to be filled. What I was thinking was we create a cup competition to fill those rounds. The way this would work is say rounds 8, 9, 17, 18, 26, 27 were assigned to be the cup rounds. In rounds 8 and 9 all 8 teams are involved, they play a randomly selected team over a double header with the winners progressing to rounds 17 and 18, where the same would happen again with the final 4, with the 2 winners playing off in rounds 26 and 27 for the cup. This leaves 1 round spare, which I was thinking could be round 1, since it would increase the time frame we have for drafting, whilst also give us an idea of who is playing etc.

Anyway what are your thoughts? I wont say what my preference is at the moment, I want to hear your thoughts :)
