Hi just like everyone else trying to complete my team, trying to find the right defender.

my current def are

God Lids Waters Carrots Scotland Suckling Golby  Bench : Ellis Clarke

Need an upgrade option for golby, leaning towards birchall but hes not scoring the 100s that he was last year, consistantly in the 80s whereas johnson is scoring better but i hate freo and have always stayed away unless their named pav or fyfe

Great backline, Its a tough one to split, either would be a good pick!

Chelskiman

If you go Birchall you will have the exct same premiums as me in defence. :P

its me lads

it's gotta be Birchall, more consistent and can get good numbers also Ross Lyon isn't his coach.

I am thinking about both of these as well, so here is a little research for you...

Both similarly priced, but Birchall will go up next week and MJ will go down.

I think 80+ is the target for a D5-7 and with that in mind Birchal has 1 score under 80 (first game back from injury) and 3 over 100, whilst MJ has 3 under 80 5 over 100. What is interesting is apart from 2 shockers, MJ either scores in the 90s or 100s whereas apart from 3 rippers, Birchal mainly scores in the 80s.

Yes Birchal is consistent, but consistenly 80s (6 Games), whilst MJ is consistently 90+ (9 games). On the other hand Birchal wont lose you games, but MJ might win them for you.

Birchal
1    Collingwood        118
2    Geelong          80
3    Adelaide           81
6    St Kilda           60    First game back from injury
7    Melbourne           103
8    Fremantle            86
9    Richmond           85
10    North Melbourne      86
11    Port Adelaide         89
12    Brisbane           97
14    Carlton           108

MJ
1    Geelong         80
2    Sydney        93
3    Brisbane         102
4    St Kilda         72
5    Carlton         58
6    Gold Coast     113
7    Port Adelaide     97
8    Hawthorn         100
9    West Coast     96
10    Adelaide         92
11    Richmond        105
13    Essendon         42    Was this Post Bye Blues? Injury? Out of Position?

Surely Birchall.

One score under 80 which was when he came back from injury.

Also he was on 80 with 5 minutes to go in the third quarter. So add an extra 25 to that score.

Ave of 90. Can't complain.

Id say Johnson, ive got him in my team and i actually really like the felxability that he provides.

For example, if i didnt have other trades to make this week... Trade Cloke in my forwards, swing MJ to the front line, and bring in Carrazzo.
Also works if you have an LTI in the forwards.

It just gives you more options if there is a falling premo in the backs and you need a trade. Plus his scoring is nice at the moment and it was an out of position reason that he scored the 42...

Thanks for the reply guys, still no closer to making a decision  :( i guess i have to decide whether to go safe anf go birch or take a risk and go johnson.

Birchall is safe. But MJ is a great P.O.D if you decide to get him. Could be the difference in a close game come finals....

Justin Bieber

Hmm well let's see.

MJ is in 36,791 teams at 12.90%

Birchall is in 36,792 at 12.90%

Don't see a P.O.D there.

I think he means a P.O.D in your league finals.

Justin Bieber

I'm just saying that they are in identical teams.

For P.O.D get old mate and locked next year Pearce Hanley.

Get MJ to even up the ledger  :P

Nah, i reckon Birchs. On this season's form, you would want MJ, but on previous years, I would say Birchall. Proven, and he loves racking it up! Can't really go wrong with either, but I'd prefer Birchall.

But if you have others to upgrade, i suggest do them first.

gstarm

If you had MJ in one team and birch in another, head to head MJ  would have beaten Birch almost every week that they both played this.. And when he didn't it was by very few..

MJ all the way buddy!!!

In my team he is a defender, but I rotate him to the forwards with J Paine going to defense to cover a forward spot when i needed, u never know but dpp is handy
