I do not have him, My midfield is Barlow, Ablett, Scotty T, Jelwood, J Redden, Boyd (Sexton, Gibson)

Do I need him?

I say no. I don't really like Swan as a player and have never had him in my team but 2 weeks ago I decided to put him in because he was such good value. For DT, he is better than any other player (Ablett a possible exception) and he will kill it in the second half of the season so you may be hurt when your opponent has him C as I have been hurt in the past.
But you can win without him if the rest of your side is good enough and your captain scores alright!

The way he is going he is more necessary than any other player in the competition.

upgrade Barlow to him on the run home

I can either go Barlow to Swan. Bugg to Scotland.

That makes my backline. Hargrave, Lake, Scotland, Deledio, Goddard, Birchall, Heppell.

I dont know if its worth it. I will be getting Bugg/Darley's score in the backline and if I go to scotland I will be getting around 20 extra ppg. With Barlow coming into better form and with his 120 this week, I reckon I will only be making around 10 extra ppg with getting in Swan.

Or I can go Giles to the Mullet!

The main reason you must have him is that if you come up against someone in the finals who has Swan, and probably has the C on him, it could be game over for you.  He's the nearest thing to a sure thing in this comp.

He is a must, you saw what he did this weekend.  However, I'd sort your backline out first (and I'd look at getting Carrazzo over Scotland at this stage as he's cheaper and will score around the same anyway), and later on if your team is set and you have some trades to burn then you can make the Barlow > Swan trade.

Darley is averaging 61 and Scotland is averaging 97 so you will be getting an extra 36 ppg on avg.
Barlow 91, Swan 126 so that's an extra 35. Those averages don't include this week's scores and I cant be bothered working them out :)

Barlow had two sub scores so he is averaging around 104 I think! So that looks like it might be Scotland/Waters/Carrots coming into the team.

It's not your weakest line right now, so I'd hold, just for now. Complete your backline/forward/rucks until you're satisfied then if you have trades, get Swanny in. For me, I just HAD to get him in, so I did even when he was $590k, and 1 week before the bye, it turns out, he saved me in two eliminators in a row, if I didn't get him, I'd have lost. It hurt my opponents who didn't have him badly. But you need to complete your team first, or at least come closer, because getting Swan is almost a luxury trade for you.

Swanny has only scored below 100 once - and that was the game when he got injured five mins into the last quarter. Managed to get 95. Would've got between 110-120 had he not got injured.

On those grounds alone it's pretty hard to pass him up

Just imagine what he could score if he was a strong tackler ::)

I can think of 172 reasons why you need him
