QuoteFREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon will tell his players to "attack the game" against Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday, rather than having a defensive approach against the ladder-leader's army of in-form midfielders

Valk that doesn't have me quaking in my boots I must say. Sounds like a junior's coach.

I'll be heading along to the G on Saturday & to be honest i'm expecting an early arm wrestle before Collingwood edge away comfortably without blowing Freo away.

Any other predictions?

Noz

Freo is in front at quarter time then Lyon changes back to his defensive game and looses by 7 goals.

This :P

Cicjose

good luck with that not enough firepower in that forward half IMO Ballantyne has no match fitness after suspension

Mayne is the number 1 target due to his accuracy and Pavlich was great up forward against Richmond but hasn't done a lot of goal scoring outside of that

Reckon I called it about right. Freo showed a bit of heart but man, if anyone tries to tell me Ross Lyon hads't brought his 'snoozeville' style of football to the Dockers, i'll explode. Personally I'm glad we only have to play you guys once this year.

Take away the 1st quarter where the Pies jumped out of the blocks quicker than Bolt - we actually kicked the same amount of goals as Collingwood so why don't you call the Pies boring?  We kicked 10 straight after half time - that right ZERO BEHINDS IN A HALF OF FOOTBALL including 6 goals to 5 in the 4th quarter.

Stop being a Lemming Cruise and watch the game for yourself and stop following the mass media.  19 goals were kicked by the Pies and Dockers in the 2nd half. (10 goals Dockers, 9 goals Pies)

I not only watched the game Valk, I was there!

You can't tell me that you can take away the first quarter and then look at the game stats. The sting was already out of the game half way through the 2nd quarter. It briefly fired up towards the end of the third quarter but it was a pretty comfortable win. The Pies haven't put sides to the sword this year which our percentage shows. That said we did do it last year but peaked way too early.

Believe me I've watched a whole lot of Ross Lyon, I know you are loyal but he's got a whole of of improving to do to earn it I reckon. Freo are 13th, with teams like Brisbane, North and Richmond ahead of them and I don't think they play particularly interesting, or more importantly successful football especially with a list which isn't bad. Just my view.

I know the game was lost after the 1st quarter - the point I was making that after that it wasn't all Collingwood - it actually was a reasonably even game (yes you still would have won but by only 11 points).

Freo may be 13th but look at the teams we have played in the last 7 weeks - ALL TOP 6 sides except Richmond, who we beat

14: Collingwood - Loss
13: Essendon - Loss
12: Bye
11: Richmond - Win
10: Crows - Loss
9: Eagles - Loss
8: Hawks - Loss

The previous 7 weeks we were 5 - 2
Loss - Sydney and Carlton
Win - Geelong, Brisbane (that game was ugly), Saints, GC, Port

We have had a very tough start and now we get a much easier run with 7 out of 9 remaining games against sides not in the top 8.

15: Bulldogs
16: Melbourne
17: GWS
18: Port
19: Eagles
20: Crows
21: Richmond
22: North

We have a whole new coaching staff (Ross Lyon, Mark Stone, Peter Sumich) who are trying to teach them something new.  As yet, we havent put it all together for a single game.  Look out for us in the back half of the season to make a run for the 8 - I still think we can finish 8th but we wont be premiership contenders (just making up the numbers / experience for the kids).

Going by your logic Valk we should only lose to WCE and the Crows for the rest of the year

leaving us on 12-9 but if that happens i think we will finish percentage out of the 8......

Do you want to add up again  8) 8)  We are currently 6 - 7, if we win 7 more games that gives us 13 wins (not 12)

valkorum

and yes I do believe we can win 7 out of 9

Cicjose

im aware of the fact i am using a 21 game win loss

i was using the ladder predictor and that only went up to 21 so the ladder predictor is wrong

Not sure the last two games Rich or NMelb are guaranteed wins...

I agree but they are games that we can win.
