RUCK MY LIFE!!

Unless you have had Ivan Maric from the start of the season, just about every DT'er going around has been affected in some way by the ruck curse of 2012. Maybe they're the first victims of the coming "apocalypse"? Maybe their bodies can't handle the pace of the game? Maybe there is something wrong with the air once you hit 2m altitude?! Whatever it is, it has claimed many of our beloved DT ruckmen - Mumford, McEvoy, McIntosh, Sandilands, etc, etc - and has left many of us in unwanted conundrums at various points in the season!

My situation is about Hamish McIntosh. Yes, I've held him since he first went down with that injury (I've forgotten what round it was, but it feels like an eternity)! "Should just be a 1-weeker" they said - it was three! Then on the eve of his return he reinjures it and adds "another 4 weeks" to his time of the sidelines. Been 2 weeks since he did that, yet all the websites and injury reports (AFL, DT Talk, NMFC, etc) are still saying he is 5-6 weeks away!

I traded him in at Round 4 after I could not handle Mumford's unannounced late withdrawals, so luckily I've only done one trade in the ruck department this season. But now I think the time has come to do another one.

Could go one-up over other teams by having Giles as a third ruck with two of HMac, Cox and Maric, but that is just a thought.

MY TEAM AS STANDS (without bye changes):

9 trades, $351,700 - already traded Smith to Gibson so only two available trades this week

DEF: Deledio, Goddard, Birchall, Waters, Hargrave, Lake, Clarke (Shaw, Darley)
MID: Swan, Thompson, Boyd, Ablett, J.Selwood, Gibson (Magner, Pendlebury)
RUC: Giles, Redden (McIntosh, Stephenson)
FWD: Franklin, Sidebottom, Beams, Dangerfield, Martin, Porplyzia, Zorko (Treloar, Sexton)

Please help me out here! Your thoughts are very much appreciated, post a helpful comment and you'll get a cheer from me! Thanks guys!

Hmac > T.Campbell

Grab Mumford later thru Orren.

Do other upgrades in the mean time, and forget Gibson.

Hmac > T.Campbell

Campbell will play this week but he'll go straight out of the side when Minson comes back won't he?

charliesheen

You just need a one week placeholder for the byes.

Mumford has a huge BE will be cheap.

But if you had to pick one of the options, what would you do?

Sandilands > Campbell
Smith > Stanton

Could potentially squeeze another forward upgrade in.

Probably wouldn't get both cox and Maric as u've still got a bit more work to do on your team. Personally I'd upgrade h-mac to Maric. (cox is a gun but west coast have said he'll definately get a rest at some stage) and Maric doesn't look like slowing down. Then I'd get straight on to your backline. Not sure how many trades you want left for finals, but I'd look at upgrading 2 of either Clarke, Hargrave or lake. Probably in that order. The rest of your team is pretty solid. I don't think you can go wrong with giles as second ruck.

Depends what you think they will average.

If Cox averages 95 DT
If Maric averages 100 DT

thats 5 ppg  x 10 rounds = 50 DT points extra over season for Maric

1 donut = 100 DT

So easy decision Cox.

I'm trading Clarke or Hargrave to Carrazzo in a couple of weeks

Get in Massive Cox, he will score better than Orren & Redden combined.  8)

gmcjedi

I've voted McIntosh to Maric from your above options.

I really think you should look at Griffin though. He's over 100K cheaper and will be Freo's #1 ruck in Sandi's absence, also durable like Maric. Use the saved funds elsewhere.

I'd take Griffin!
