Hey all.

I've been looking at the stats, and i was just wondering why there is no love for Matthew Scarlett in SC.
Am I missing something ??

This year (if you exclude his terrible round 1 match) then he has averaged 107.80.
He's only 486k and has a be of 56 this week so he's ripe.
He's also smoldering from letting the side down due to his brain fart against ballantyne.

I've looked and I don't think Geelong are missing any key defenders and i heard somewhere that he is playing a slightly different role this year.

Has anyone got thoughts on this one ??

He will miss regular games in the second half of the season especially interstate trips because of his age & the fact that the Cats will need him fresh for the finals.
Scoring well yes but will miss games & can also get shutdown rolls every now & again which = very low scores.

i'm saying no, and is way too espensive!! i mean like 150k-200k too expensive!!!

yea mate, he could be ok as lonergan plays on the key forward nowadays and scarlo setting up play and being loose deep down back. but the cons weigh out the pros in this one imo.

there are way better picks - his durability is the biggest concern with coaches runnning low on trades you don't wanna gamble on an injury prone player now to only have to fix it in near future. not to mention he is pivotal for geelongs hopes in finals, meaning i'd bet my bottom dollar he'll be rested.

I dont think you have to worry about him being injury prone, I just dont think he is a good enough SC player to have. He is just as likely to pull a 30 as a decent score as full backs can play all different types of roles. Id look elsewhere.

Also just had a look at the teams he has played this season, and he actually hasnt really played against any decent sides at all, which would allow him to zone off and play a bit more freely than usual. Think he will struggle SC wise when he has to lock down a bit more on a team that has a couple more dangerous forwards like WCE, COLL, ESS, HAW, ADE etc, and will still play well coz he is a star, but nothing SC friendly i wouldnt think. Better options with Scotland, Carrazzo, Adcock etc all at a good price!

Thanks all !!

Much appreciated.
I almost just wanted someone to convince me not to :) and that has now happened.

Think I'll go for Jed now and Carazzo in 2.
