I notice our friends over in the Sydney board are doing something similar, so thought I'd start something....

What is Collingwood's best 22 since the AFL changed it's name in 1990?

My crack:

B: J Clement, S Prestigiacomo, L Davis
HB: D Millane, B Reid, M McGuane
C: T Shaw, N Buckley, D Thomas
HF: G Brown, T Cloke, A Didak
F: P Daicos, S Rocca, T Francis
Foll: D Jolly, D Swan, S Pendlebury
I: G Wright, D Monkhurst, P Licuria, H Shaw

Coach: M Malthouse

Was a quick together... who wants to make there own? Thoughts? Tried to balance it between the 3 eras of the times... (Brown -- Buckley -- Maxwell)

B: J Clement, S Prestigiacomo, L Davis
HB: B Johnson, S Wakelin, M McGuane
C: T Shaw, S Pendlebury, P Licuria
HF: G Brown, T Cloke, A Didak
F: P Daicos, S Rocca, T Francis
Foll: D Monkhurst, N Buckley, D Swan
I: G Wright, T Lockyer, S Burns, H Shaw

Coach: M Malthouse
Capt: N Buckley
Vice: T Shaw

Daisy is hard done by to miss this list but Lockyer and Burnsy did more in their time to be warranted at the minimum a interchange seat while Licca needs to be on the field. Also dropped Reid for Wakelin as I don't think Reid has done quite enough yet to get a spot. Jolly is out as well as a couple seasons doesn't to it for me tbh. He was fantastic the first time around then has been rather poor since injuries have taken their toll.

But the most controversial drop is Millane. Not that I doubt his ability to make the list, as he was and always will be remembered as one of the greatest players Collingwood has ever had, with the tragic accident cutting short his life and not allowing everyone to see his true potential and ability to become one of the games greats, I just don't think 2 seasons really cuts enough to make the list over Ben Johnson who has been at it for 12 at a brilliant level.

Other than that Ossie, the sides are pretty much the same.

I find it interesting that Davis ( I hope I'm talking about Leon, my history with Collingwood doesn't go back that far) has managed to get a spot in your backlines after only playing one season back there.

Shaggy

He earns a spot based on his forward history but fits into the team down back after a fantastic season down there.

Very interesting, ths is the kind of exercise that FF was invented for I reckon, very tough.

So where do we start

1) I'm not sure Neon Leon makes the backline. I'd go with Crosisica or Heath Shaw.
2) Can Clement go to CHB?
3) Burns before Francis in the forward pocket
4) I agree Os that Millane & Daisy have to be in - wow I've never used their name in the same sentence, very different people.
5) Monky probably edges Jolly out for me with the latter on the bench instead of Licuria.

My brain hurts! This might takes years to settle.

I would go with Leigh Brown in Monkeys spot on the pine Cruiseon.  :o

Well he did change football forever.

The mobile 2nd tall for ruck relief is what every team now craves (including the Pies).

He also has more Collingwood flags than Buckley, Burns, Presti  :'( and Clement.

You know, in my original team, I forgot about Scott Burns, and I feel shamed about that!

But as much as I think Benny J and Tarks were for Collingwood, do they have the star power/game winning performances to be in the best 22?
