Is Giles good enough to be a second ruck?

Is Giles good enough to be the second ruck of your team? If I get my team set with a reasonable amount of trades left I might get another big man. Your thoughts?

looking like the only guys clearly better than him are cox and maric. Not sure if its worth the cash and trade to move him on. If mummy or mcevoy starts pumping out big scores would consider them as they are cheaper but really getting rid of giles is good but its a luxury trade.

no if he runs out of steam like smith did last season.

Giles much older and stronger tho so while there will be a bunch above him, solid enough if your low on trades.

Add Jacobs to those Holz back to his best tonight. NicNat starting to get enough of it to become DT relevant too and is goldy back?

Griffen could average 100 now too as the #1

If he keeps scoring at an average of between 80-90 it would be pretty hard to trade him considering how well most of the other rucks have been going... if it looks like his form is really on the downward spiral a trade to Mumford or perhaps S. Jacobs might be a go (depending on their form in the next few weeks), but other than that, I don't reckon most teams have enough trades to justify getting rid of him...

Yeah it seems like perfect timing for those that are tempted to trade him out... there are so many players that are suddenly looking like they might be good pickups, and quite a few good value picks too (like Griffin and Jacobs as you mentioned). If Giles has a poor game next week (assuming he is back), I reckon there might be a few looking to trade him out... whether it pays off in the long run is another thing.

all good picks i dont think you can see they are a clear upgrade from giles just yet.

It doesn't really matter at the moment.
It all depends on your trades. Just finish your team first, and if you are happy check your trades. If you still have a decent amount, won't be a bad idea to upgrade Giles(injury, rest or price could be perfect times) or even just coming up to a hard opponent. If you have the trades to upgrade Giles, just keep it up your sleeve. Surely he is good enough, but if you have no trades, then you really have no choice. If you have plenty of trades then go for it. Options are thin though.... not time to trade him yet, especially if he's back next week.

Yeah well said Zombie. Rucks are probably the last upgrade, as the potential gain is minimal.
Giles is up and down, but then again there's very very few rucks that haven't been (actually I think only Maric has been consistently solid). So the only option I'd really consider for him is Maric, and that'll be a while down the track, if I haven't already used up all my trades on whatever future carnage will be coming my way.

I think if your upgrading it has to be to Maric or cox only, I did it last week to Maric so I have the two. Anyone else isn't worth it IMO

I think nicnat is finely breaking out, and is the west coasts number one ruckman. Coxs scores will be slightly down on first half. Nicnat could easily ave 100+ from here on.

Griffen will ave 100, but if sandy is back early, or come finals time could hurt you bad unless you got trades up your sleeve.

Goldy could be a good choice but you needed to pick him up this week, and there is a massive cloud over his ability to play well with hmac in side.

I've had Maric since about round 4, his very expensive for a reason and a better option than cox.

I personally dont think Giles is good enough to be a 2nd ruck and should of been traded this week if your concerned with ya overall ranking id trade him out to maric (but ya might as well wait another week) if your not on him yet or nicnat. Either way both will pile on 200+ more points than giles after the byes.

Think i will hold onto him last upgrade i think just before league finals. Struggling with trades at the moment  hope he is back next week

l have been rapt with Giles this year, he definately made it worthwhile going against the standard 2 premo ruck strategy.

l started with Cox, Giles, Orren & Redden and because of this avoided the ruck carnage that happened to alot of people

But when Giles was outed with a calf injury l pulled the trigger on him and couldnt be happier......got in Maric, even though he's out next week

....whether Giles really had an injury or was just rested l dont know (l suppose we'll find out when teams are announced this week), but l was going to trade in Maric after his bye anyway
