rucking woes

your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Sandi needs to go, never to return to my team again.

my two options are either Goldy this week, or Griffin next week.

these are the only 2 guys Im looking at. Should I take the ''safe'' option with Goldy or the riskier pick in Griffin, who now has the No.1 mantle at Freo for pretty much rest of season?

Colliwobblers

Griffen is the safer pick. Who knows what north will do when HMac is back but that's six weeks away and Goldy is averaging 106 from his last 3.

I'm in the same boat but having Maric and Giles I have the luxury of waiting till after round 13 and getting Griffen hopefully cheaper again as his BE is 99. I'm going Griffen purely on price.

thatguy

im so tempted to jump on griffin as somewhat of a POD, Goldy is just as tempting though! obviously this week is now or never with Goldy... but like you Griffin appears set to have the No.1 mantle for at least an extra month than goldy given the injuries to hmac and sandi

Scalahad

im in same boat atm aswell, but would freo also put in zac clarke now that sandis gone, surely he would share the load with griffin?

Windigo

Goldstein get's my vote.

He will dominate GC and the following weeks until H-mac is back..... :P

and then what happens when HMac is back in a bit over a month?

Windigo

And that is the problem.  :P

I'd much rather a cheap Goldstein than a dearer Cox who will arguably score the same.

But then there is the H-mac factor. If H was out all year, then it'd be easy, go Goldy.

Tough choice.  :(

what do you reckon on griffin Windigo? has proven he can score big when given No.1 duties. Sandi wont be back until at least rd 19-20 at the very earliest, and it wouldnt surprise me if the dockers are out of finals hunt if they cotton wool him.

Colliwobblers

the price should make the decision easy for you griffen. If you can wait one more week after next he may even drop ten to twenty more with a 99 BE. Clarke will be #2 and pinch hit but griffen will do 90% of the ruck duties and he is a genuine quality ruckman, likely on the trade table at the end of the year and PLENTY of teams already expressed interest.

Depends if sandi comes back or goes or whether Freo can somehow guarantee him a shot because if they can't he will be goooooooneski

He has proved that he can dominate and is a quality ruck option.

It depends whether you want a week on him. Goldy is ready to go now.

given ive been stung in bringing players in this year and am lowish on trades, I think i might make the week for griffin, no doubt something will happen this week to me! haha.

extra 40k might help in getting another premium elsewhere too.

Windigo

Fair enough.

I've bitten the bullet and got Goldy in. Will net a huge score this week.  ;)

Mr.Craig

I have written of this cautionary tale before but I think I should do it again...

Last year when Sandi went down I picked up Griff in the belief that Sandi wouldn't be back.

He gave me scores of 115, 89, 71, 155, 75 and 33. Up and down but still better than what I would have got from fielding Smith. Anyway, then Sandi returned, he got dropped and I didn't have trades to spare so I was stuck with him.

So you might think it's worthwhile to get him in now but if you have to waste trades on injuries/suspensions then you might find yourself with a very expensive dead weight sitting on your bench.

Holz

If you have enough trades that you can save 1 to get rid of griffin if you have to I would go griffin purely of the fact that goldy will score better with Hmac in the sqaud than griffin will with sandi. I wouldn't be suprsied if goldy stays the number 1 ruck all year. The thing that makes me goldy (besides the fact im a roo fan and i want a roo in the team) is redden and big O have been terrible and the 70 points i potentially make up by playing goldy over redden this week is worth it for me.

thatguy

all valid points.

it will be a decision which i agonise over for the next 24 hours!
