well done, for the up, and yeah as i said a sling tackle is a sling tackle and i never heard of anyone getting off for slinging the player. (good behaviour records aside)

but it's all a bit inconsistant at times so maybe the lack of any injury or really heavy impact might make them "deem" it just short of a sling tackle, but i doubt it.

Buddy is one of the best players to ever play the game but when it comes to tackling he is brainless. most of his efforts are high or clumsy or totally ineffective, but no one seems to care with all the goals he kicks :)

strikes91

plenty of force in it. he'll miss the brisbane match only

Sabmac

Considering Walker missed two for his (which had head contact but wasn't heavy) Franklin will miss at least one, surely.

Lance Franklin cleared contact P Stewart. Tackle not unreasonable in circumstances; Stewart not driven into ground with excessive force.

just a bit more info

"The match day report against Hawthorn's Lance Franklin for engaging in rough conduct against Port Adelaide’s Paul Stewart from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed.

The panel said Stewart had taken possession of the ball after a marking contest and was then immediately tackled around the waist by Franklin. As Stewart was tackled by his opponent, he attempted to dispose of the ball with a kick, but did not make contact with the ball. Franklin did not have both of Stewart's arms pinned in his tackle and took his opponent to the ground in one continuous motion. Contact by Stewart with the ground was made by his hip and arm.

After viewing all available footage, receiving a medical report from the Port Adelaide Football Club and speaking to the umpire who laid the report on the day, it was the view of the panel the tackle was not unreasonable in the circumstances and Stewart was not driven into the ground with excessive force. No further action was taken."
