Feel free to have a go at me for this but - seriously umpire, in the spirit of the game why wouldn't you let him take the kick? I don't think he played on anyway. He went to kick the ball and stopped when he heard the siren... Oh well...


Umpiring all night both ways was ordinary all night though, seems like it's gotten worse yet again. I still get so annoyed when I see 20 instances of players just dropping the ball with no free paid.

He stepped off the mark to kick. Doesn't matter that he didn't kick it. As soon as he took the step the ump called play on. He can't then change his mind cos the siren went

I agree TBH, (with sid that is) he turned around and ran on his mark, didn't really run around sideways off the mark, would have liked to have seen him have a kick for the win

The ump called play on and thats all that matters. If the full time hooter hadnt gone, i think they would have let him go back and have a shot.

The umpiring wasnt the best tonight as there were numerous free kicks not given to either team.

The swans threw the ball 3 times and and should have had a couple of high tackles against them

The bugger issue is all this talk about too many stoppages and rolling mauls, if the fu<king umpires just paid incorrect disposal PROPERLY there would be no problems!! Seriousley hav a look when a player gets the ball, if he does not handball or kick... Freekick. <--- period!!!!!

What is the rule for holding the ball?

Incorrect Disposal? Not anymore!
Taking on players and being tackled? Not anymore.
Ducking in a being tackled with no attempt to get it out? Not anymore.

No, it's when they flowering just get the ball, no prior oppurtunity, or when the ball is being held into them.

Umpires need to renew their knowledge of the rules because, quite frankley, the use of holding the ball was disgraceful.

Dempsey was in 2 minds weather to kick for goal, or to kick to Jobe.

Seriously, if he was having a shot with 3 seconds left, do you think he would have done that?

We were playing well all night, i thought we were always in it, just couldn't kick goals.

Also, didn't realise how important Myers was to our team.

And as BB said, it should give us confidence, look at the last 8 qtrs we have played.

Then look at the last qtr we just played.

how can u introduce people to the game when u say "ok the only way to get rid of the ball is to kick or handball it" if ur tackled and u don't handball or kick it's holding the ball...
