I've seen others with this same dilemma so hopefully the advice and poll results help them too

139,700 moneys

DEF: B Deledio, B Goddard , D Heppell, R Hargrave, G Birchall , S Morris, B Smedts, (B Waters, S Darley)

MID: M Boyd, S Pendlebury, G Ablett, D Swan, J Selwood, K Horsley, (J McDonald, T Adams)

RUCK: A Sandilands, O Stephenson, (J Giles, J Redden)

FWD: S Sidebottom, L Franklin, M Robinson, D Beams, D Martin, D Zorko, A Hall, (D Smith, A Kennedy)

Is it worth getting mitchell in this week for Horsley or waiting till round 13 when Thompson/Stanton drop because of their massive BE and paying a bit extra?

Mitchell
Pros:
  • So cheap
  • No downgrade needed
  • Easy Run Home
  • Proven Gun in past years
  • Prevents Horsleys price drop
  • Rnd 13 Bye player

Cons:

  • Down on form
  • Better options
  • Can't handle tag

Thompson
Pros:

  • GUN
  • Easy run home
  • Will be under priced in 2 rounds
  • More consistent than Mitchell
  • Danger sometimes cops the tag over him

Cons:

  • Down on form last couple of weeks
  • Need to find a bit more money
  • Horsley will drop

Stanton
Pros:

  • Highest average of all of them
  • Will be under priced in two weeks

Cons:

  • Will form continue
  • Copping hard tag every week
  • Most expensive
  • Probably the hardest run home out of the three

Mate the obvious player standing out for me there is S. Thompson. He's a gun and it's worth what it takes. Go for Thommo. Stanton's a gun but as you said - the tag. He will be an explosion midfielder but I don't think you should really trust him. Thompson.

Absolutely agree. Thompson still has some big scores in him this year. He's been consistent which is a big priority for me when picking a player.

I put this in another Mitchell related post... Im definately looking at Stanton but need one more premo in my mids... Considering these , Watson/Thompson and because Mitchell is cheap and talked about I looked at him.
I know hindsight will come a bite me on this but, comparison between Mitchell and Thompson.

Thompson currently  -  $501,300, 189 breakeven, average 108, and total points 1,086
I dont see Thompson getting rested, but it is worth a considering this...
Round 20 - Fremantle, tagged out of a DT efective game.
Round 21 - Brisbane, tagged out of a DT efective game.
Round 22 - Melbourne, will he be rested this round or round 23? Also poor scoring in the last 3 meets.
Round 23 - Gold Coast (Played at AAMI so if he is rested would it be safe to assume round 22 when they travel to MCG??) Smashed early in the year. Scored 135

Mitchell currently      -  $437,500, 87 breakeven, average 102 and total points 1,027.
Round 20 - Port - Decent scoring in the last 3 meets.
Round 21 - Gold Coast - A nice 130 odd and a 90 last year
Round 22 - Sydney (SCG) - Poor scoring in the last 3 meets.
Round 23 - West Coast - Scores very well against them.

If you wait a week and trade him in round 13 youll basically have them at the same price. Before looking at the DT final rounds i was not even condiering Mitchell and was laughing at those who were (Sorry guys!), but now im thinking of picking him over Thommo (sorry babe, ill start you in my DT next year).

Also, Watson and Stanton have GWS (Round 22 - Skoda Stadium) and Melbourne (Round 23 - MCG) after 2 difficult games against West Coast and Richmond. So will one of them be rested? grrrrrrrrrr

Good pick up. Now I am confused again....

Love Scotty T. May put in a few low scores, but these aren't common and most times he will slay 110+.

Unique gun option for any midfield.  ;)

Scotty T to lose some dough and I'll jump on :)

I'll have this problem in two weeks, but I can't decide between Thommo and Boyd, Boyd has had a higher ave for a few years, but gee I love Thommo! ???

Hardly Unique..... 35,000 coaches have him and probably another 20,000+ will in 1-2 weeks.

Check out the most consistent players:
Watson has the highest average by faaaaaaaaaaaar of the top 15 most consistent (he is ranked 7th)

Watson has only two scores under 100 (94, 91) and 3 scores above 130 (139, 134, 134)

get on him

I say that because he is number 31 on the list on most selected Mids+Mid/Fwds as well.

More people have Hayes & Zaha for example.
