Jukes

Seeing as LaHug can’t do his captains due to exams, I’ve decided to do one for this week and see how it goes. Done a quick paragraph on a few players, if you’re impatient you can just skip to the bottom and read my top 5. If you have a player request just ask for them in the comments and I’ll get around to it (I’ll do them tomorrow, can’t do them tonight as I’m going out for my parents’ anniversary).

Brett Deledio
After a solid 102 last week against the Saints, Lids comes up against Fremantle at the MCG this Saturday. He averages 89.57 at the MCG and a slightly higher 89.89 average against the Dockers, despite scoring only 82 and 84 in his last two outings against them. His 3 round average is a huge 134.3.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 129
Jukesy’s Prediction: 120

Gary Ablett
An obvious choice for captain most weeks, Gary showed up with a 53 possession, 186 dream team performance against the pies on Sunday. He takes on the Saints at Metricon this week, which will be more even then last week. His average against the saints is his worst of all sides despite pumping a 143 last outing, but don’t let that deter you. A 3 round average of 136.3 is the highest of all players.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 124
Jukesy’s Prediction: 135

Brent Stanton
My personal favourite player, his last two outings have been ordinary; however, last time he had sub two sub-120 outings in a row he smashed a personal best 175 against a strong Carlton outfit. He faces the Swans at Etihad- where he scored that 193 which held the DT record for a few weeks- who he has a three round average on them of 106. Solid option as always; a suitable substitute is Jobe Waton.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 136
Jukesy’s Prediction: 130

Lance Franklin
After that superb game last week, Buddy may be working into contention to be a captain, with that massive ceiling. His consistency has plagued him all year (and career), but he looks to be out of that slump with his 204. The most popular DT’er in the comp, Buddy travels to Port Adelaide on a high and form, with a three round average of 127.3. His breakeven is only 9, so he’s on for a massive price rise of around 40k. Port is on a three game win streak, and Buddy has a max of 93 at AAMI stadium.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 111
Jukesy’s Prediction: 110, although it could be another 70…

Dane Swan
Relying that Swanny is back this week and Bucks doesn’t rest him, he will probably smash Melbourne. His last three against Melbourne have featured a 150 and a 130, not playing them last year. Don’t worry that it is his first game back; he will probably still hit out a large score. With no Pendles he will likely cop the McKenzie or Magner tag, but he can’t be tagged.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 135
Jukesy’s Prediction: 125

Dayne Beams
With Pendles out, this man will likely also be tagged a bit; but he will also be allowed a lot of midfield time. Beamsy has a 91, 96 and 94 from his three games against the Dee’s. A suitable substitute option would be Steele Sidebottom, although after last week’s performance I doubt anybody will ever have him captain again.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 129
Jukesy’s Prediction: 115

Ivan Maric
The mullet is a great dream teamer as we have found out this season, but is he good enough to be a captain? His form appears so. His last five rounds have given an elite average of 117.6 (three of those coming at the MCG which he plays at this week), with a three round average of even higher at 120.7. Although he comes up against the formidable Aaron Sandilands, the dockers regularly give up large scores to opposition ruckmen due to Sandi’s inability to fully run with players.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 118
Jukesy’s Prediction: 120

As per request,
Brendan Goddard
So yes he has scored a 152 and 141 in his last two against the Suns...his season average isn't even 100 though. Apart from that 141 against the Suns in round 2, he's only topped the 100 on two occasions. (only one score being under 85 however). Good player, and a good choice for captain if you don't have the rest of the top 5.
Assistant Coach Prediction: 93 (what?)
Jukesy's Prediction: 120

I'm rolling with GAJ and Stants.

Justin Bieber

Nice work Jukes.

Good write up. Ablett looks like a popular choice.

Scrads

After my last 5, I would be stupid not to pick Ablett this week.

DT Gun

Stanton 130? are you kidding!

He only scores against teams that let him run loose...

If he scores over 120 against the swans who are knows to be a great shut down side i'll eat my hat

What flavour is it?? :P

I agree with you DT Gun, though to be fair Brent "I call out +3 every time i kick the ball" Stanton has scored fairly well this season.

DT Gun

I think it should be Ablett or Swan...

You have to captain one of these 2

if ya dont your gonna regret it

Agree, although I think GAJ is a safer pick as Swan is returning from injury which may reduce his scores a touch. There is nothing wrong with going lids either though, very consistent.

Jukes

Can't really go wrong with any of the top 5.

Bill Manspeaker

good work mate. i gotta stick with Ablett, can't take the C off a bloke that scored 186 the week before

Tom_16

Nice work, going ablett this week after his 186 and the Sidebottom disaster. Can't see my self taking the C off ablett for a long time now. Interesting to see Maric in the top 5 although i picked him up last week and can't fault him so far.

PowerBug

$20 on Sidebottom to score 125+

It's him or swan as captain for me. Can't let me down 2 weeks in a row? ... right? right?

Jukes

Steele is a never again captain for me after that 68.

Possible alternative to Beams, as said.

Windigo

I would have thought this would just have STANTON, in beg red letters.  :P

Good work mate.  ;)
