To Stevie J or not to Stevie J

Ok, so I want a bit of Stevie in my FWDs and I think this is the best week to get him with a low BE and GWS to come. However, to make it happen I need to lose Trealor and D Smith (DG to Sexton). Both probably have a little more $ to make but even despite AT's 119 last week, they probably have to go by end of year anyway.

What do you guys think? Is this a good move or farukin crazy?

The team post trade would look like:

DEF - Lids, Scotland, Waters, Goddard, Suckling, Hargrave, Bugg (Smedts, Spurr)
MID - Boyd, Pendles, Thommo, Mitchell, GAJ, J McDonald (Horse, Pfeiffer)
RUC - Cox, Giles (Big O, Redden)
FWD - Sidebum, Robbo, Stevie J, Franklin, Danger, Martin, Zorko (Adams, Sexton)

After that it's bring in Swan for McDonald or Horse after the bye and maybe make a play to bolster defence or fwd depending on selections in the next 5 or 6 weeks and I'm just about settled with about 8 trades to cover injuries and see me through finals.

Thoughts on this week's idea?

Thanks champs!

lollipop man

Bugg to Darley and Smith to Stevie J much better.

Smeghead

Thanks lollipop man! That is affordable too, but does leave me a little exposed at the back. I'd have to play Darley on the field. Is he much cop? I dont know too much about him...

Andrew

I'm doing Greene -> Stevie J... I think Stevie J has to be top 7 forwards from here on in, surely..?

Darley should have no problem with scoring (scored  42 last week after coming on in Q4!), it's his JS that could be an issue though.

Yeah I think so. Getting a fair run through the mid as well. Looks a solid option.

OOOOOooooorrrrr.... Bugg to Darley, Smith to Sexton and hold $400,000 until I play someone decent... Outscored the guy I play this week by 340 last week, 850 more than next week's opponant and 400 more than the one after, so Im not in much trouble.

Hmmm maybe I should hold...

In that case I would take the double downgrade, the available $$'s through the byes will allow you to cover your donuts with premo's rather than hoping for a reasonable rookie. There will be other chances to get Stevie as he has the odd low score

I think you're right hardnut. Only bye that i want to be ready for is the round 13 one. the others are easy wins even with a donut or two, so cash up the sleeve will be good for that moment.

Sidey
Beams
Robinson
Franklin
Chapman
Dangerfield
Stevie J

Looks like he sneaks in. I'd prefer to take Beams over him though.

If you're all about league then the double-downgrade is your most sensible option.

Tominator

I'd be going Beams over Stevie J if you can afford it

Even though Stevie J could nudge 170 this weekend against GWS, Beams is becoming a must-have.

Traded Kennedy --> Beams two weeks ago and have to say it was a brilliant move :D

Stevie J will average more than Danger and Chappy and arguably Franklin and Robbo.

DT Gun

i think stevie j will play closer to goal and less mid time with hawkins out.. i think he will average around 90 from here on in

For what it's worth I'm going for overall, and if not that eliminator. I'm borderline in Eliminator this week and next week could have Heath Shaw & Swan out again. So for survival in Eliminator it's a necessary upgrade. But Sexton's job security has to be touch and go with McKenzie & Brennan still out of the team, surely..? I want to wait a week on him to make sure he gets named during the important bye period, but I know it'll cost me $$$. I just feel with Gold Coast playing Collingwood, Sexton won't score that much... Or should I do Smith -> Sexton this week as well??

My forward line presently contains: Franklin, Sidebottom, Beams, Robinson, Martin and the rest rookies, and I feel that Stevie J is better than Chappy because Chappy is more likely to get rested. Stevie J seems to have the highest ceiling of all the forwards, once again... I want to put that to the test vs GWS :)
